Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a non-traditional student as defined by UW-Eau Claire. This includes students with any one of the following characteristics: age 25 or older; have experienced a break in their education; military veteran; married; a parent. *Please note: First-generation students are also eligible for this scholarship.
  4. Must have graduated from a Wisconsin high school, with a preference for a Durand High School graduate.
  5. Must plan to attend the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
  6. Must be an incoming student with 30 or fewer undergraduate credits.
  7. Must attend a university in Wisconsin.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Non-traditional and first generation incoming students to the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire who have earned no more than 30 college credit hours and graduated from a Wisconsin high school are eligible for this award. Students must demonstrate financial need; preference is given to students from Durand High School.

Additional Information: Students should demonstrate significant financial need and have a FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid office. To be considered, students must have a well-rounded record of academic achievement, leadership, and involvement in extracurricular activities. Scholarship decisions are made before the start of each academic year.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, renewable for one additional year at $500 if the student has a successful freshman year and maintains good academic standing.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

There is not a separate application for this award. Students are considered based on their admissions application. Admissions information is available online at www.uwec.edu/Admissions/. Scholarship reviews will begin in early December.
