Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. This is an undergraduate award.
  4. Must be a non-traditional student who is returning to college to complete his/her degree.
  5. Must have previously attended the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire without having graduated.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Mature U.S. students who are returning to the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire are eligible for this award. Students must not have graduated.

Additional Information: The Claire Lyla Flagler Award is provided annually in memory of Lyla Flagler and her contributions to the UW-Eau Claire campus by organizing the first Sigma Gamma Zeta meetings. Sigma Gamma Zeta evolved as an academic and community group for older women and non-traditional students. Recipients must display financial need and should formerly have had an above-average scholastic record when they first attended the University. Applicants must be currently enrolled and in good academic standing. It is suggested that recipients write a thank you letter addressed to Jeanne Lazor at the UW-Eau Claire Foundation.

Award Amount: $750 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $750.

Applications are available online from the University of Wisconsin (UW)- Eau Claire website. There is not a separate application for this award. The student will be considered upon admission to UW-Eau Claire. In addition to the completed admissions application, the student must submit a $40 fee, transcripts, and the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Applications must be submitted by the deadline date.
