In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be an incoming first-year freshman.
  2. Must plan to attend Valparaiso University.
  3. Must demonstrate academic excellence via standardized test scores and grade point average.
  4. This award is for U.S. students.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  6. Must attend a college or university in Indiana.

Description: This award is for U.S. students who are admitted to Valparaiso University as first time freshmen. The student must display academic exellence based upon highest combined subscore (ACT or SAT) and grade point average.

Additional Information: Valparaiso University is pleased to reward students demonstrating exceptional high school achievement with academic scholarships. Improved test scores or seventh semester transcript may be considered if received by Feb. 15.

Award Amount: Up to $22,000 per year  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $88,000.

Scholarship information is available online on the Valparaiso University (VU) website. To apply for the scholarship, the student must apply for admission to VU. A separate scholarship application is not required. Admissions application information is available online at www.valpo.edu/admission/undergrad/apply/freshman-application-instructions/. Students may apply for admission online, via paper application, or via the Common Application. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit the following materials: a personal statement; standardized test scores (either from the testing agency or on his/her high school transcript); an official high school transcript; Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, or other test scores, if applicable. Students may apply for admission to VU as early as one year before their intended start date. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Application review begins in October for students enrolling in August and February for students enrolling the following January. Students will be notified of an admission decision approximately 3-four weeks after submission of a completed application. Please note: Students applying for financial aid are encouraged to file a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Students should submit the FAFSA by March 1 for priority consideration for financial aid.
