Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  3. Must be an incoming or current undergraduate or graduate student.
  4. Must enroll on a quarter-time (three credits per term) basis or higher.
  5. Must be a resident of Vermont.
  6. Must seek a degree in environmental studies. Preference is given to students pursuing a degree in an aquatic environmental studies field, such as watershed management, water resources education, and/or limnology.
  7. Must demonstrate academic achievement.
  8. Must demonstrate community involvement and/or service.

Description: This scholarship is open to Vermont undergraduate and graduate students who are seeking a degree in environmental studies; preference is given to students seeking a degree in an aquatic environmental studies field, such as watershed management, water resources education, and/or limnology. Students must demonstrate academic achievement, financial need, and community involvement and/or service.

Additional Information: This scholarship is sponsored by the Federation of Vermont Lakes and Ponds, Inc., and was created to encourage and support the study of and careers in aquatic environmental studies, water resources education, and limnology. Applicants must attend an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding, and must demonstrate financial need. Selection is based on application documents, financial need, and academic achievement. There are approximately 65 applicants for this award each year.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.
