Number of Awards & Eligibility: Varies depending on the number of eligible students. In the previous academic year, 16 awards were disbursed.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have been a resident of New Mexico at original time of entry into the armed forces or have lived in New Mexico for ten years or more .
  3. Must have been awarded a Vietnam campaign medal for services in Vietnam during the period of Aug. 5, 1964 to the official termination of the Vietnam conflict. The student must also be honorably discharged from the armed forces of the United States.
  4. Must attend a public or selected private non-profit postsecondary institution in New Mexico.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  6. Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: New Mexico undergraduate or graduate students who have been awarded a Vietnam campaign medal for services in Vietnam during the period of Aug. 5, 1964 to the official termination of the Vietnam conflict are eligible for this award. Students must be planning to attend a New Mexico postsecondary institution.

Additional Information: To be eligible for the Vietnam Veterans Scholarship students must; be honorably discharged from the armed forces of the United States, be a resident of New Mexico at original time of entry into the armed forces or who has lived in New Mexico for ten years or more, and has been awarded a Vietnam campaign medal for services in Vietnam during the period of August 5, 1964 to the official termination of the Vietnam conflict. The New Mexico Veteran's Service Commission must certify applicants and coursework.

Award Amount: Award pays for tuition, required fees and required books and is renewable provided the student maintains satisfactory progress.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $32,800.
