Number of Awards & Eligibility: All eligible students are funded.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must qualify based on a military service member who was killed, missing in action, taken prisoner, or who became at least 90 percent disabled as a result of military service in an armed conflict. The military service member must have been a bona fide domiciliary of Virginia at the time he/she entered active duty, or must have been a bona fide domiciliary of Virginia for at least five years immediately prior to the date of the application for admission.
  3. Must attend or plan to attend a public college or university in Virginia.
  4. Must be a resident of Virginia.
  5. Eligible children must be between ages 16 and 29. There are no age restrictions for eligible spouses.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  7. Must be the child or spouse of an eligible military member.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for U.S. undergraduate students who are currently attending or planning to attend a public, state-supported postsecondary institution in Virginia. The student must be a child or spouse of a military service member who was killed, missing in action, taken prisoner, or who became at least 90 percent disabled as a result of military service in an armed conflict.

Additional Information: Upon approval, the Virginia Department of Veterans Services will provide eligible students with a letter of eligibility. The student must present his/her VMSDEP letter of eligibility to his/her school's financial aid office.

Award Amount: This program waives tuition and fees at eligible Virginia postsecondary institutions for up to 36 months. In addition, a stipend of up to $1,500 to offset the costs of room, board, books, and supplies is available, contingent on funding.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,500.
