Number of Awards & Eligibility: Three awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
  3. Must pursue an eligible dental hygiene program
  4. Must be a student or professional member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA).
  5. Must be a full-time student.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  7. Must be pursuing one of the following dental hygiene degrees: certificate/associate's; baccalaureate; degree completion; Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice (RDHAP); master's; doctorate. Students entering their first year of dental hygiene school are not eligible, although students may be in the process of completing their first year when application is submitted.

Description: This scholarship is available for California students who are pursuing a certificate/associate's, baccalaureate, or graduate degree in dental hygiene, or a degree completion or alternative practice program. Students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, and be student or professional members of the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA).

Additional Information: Applicants must demonstrate leadership experience. These scholarships will be awarded solely on merit and do not have a financial need requirement.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $6,000.

Applications are available online from the ADHA Institute for Oral Health website. The application must be completed online. Mailed applications will not be accepted. Please note: Each student may only apply for one scholarship offered by the ADHA Institute. The student should submit an application for the scholarship for which he/she is most qualified. As part of the application, the student must prepare a statement describing his/her long-term career goals, his/her intended contribution to the dental hygiene profession, his/her professional interests, and how his/her extracurricular activities and degree enhance the attainment of his/her goals. In addition to the student application, the student must request completion of faculty evaluation and program director sections. These sections must be completed online by the appropriate school personnel. ADHA Institute staff recommends that the student allow three to four weeks for completion of these sections. All applications must be received electronically by the ADHA Institute no later than the deadline date.
