Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. It is the intention of the fund to make a few awards of significant size rather than many smaller awards.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of one of the following cities in New Hampshire: Wilton, Lyndeborough, or Milford.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  4. Must be planning to enroll in a two- or four-year college.

Description: This award is available for U.S. students who are residents of Wilton, Lyndeborough, or Milford in New Hampshire. Students must be planning to enroll during the following school year as undergraduate or graduate students at a two- or four-year college.

Additional Information: Bernice Perry, a pioneer aviator, photographer and long-time area resident created this scholarship. Students must be motivated and demonstrate potential for success in their chosen field. Other factors used to evaluate candidates will include: involvement in school and community life, voluntary service, exceptional commitment to an activity or endeavor, and financial need. However, first preference in choosing recipients is given to those students who are residents of Wilton and have attended a local public or private high school. A small number of finalists may be invited for a face-to-face interview in April in Wilton, NH. No other date will be scheduled for interviews. Final award decisions are made in April.

Award Amount: The amount of each award varies annually. In 2016, it is anticipated that approximately $45,000 will be available for awards made through this program. All awards are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,106.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in January for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications are available online on the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation (NHCF) website. The student should apply for this award using the NHCF online application. The student need only submit one online application for all scholarships for which he/she is eligible. The student must upload the following supporting documents to the online application: an essay of approximately 500 words describing his/her education and career goals; an electronic copy of the confirmation page of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid); the names and email addresses for two persons who can write letters of recommendation on his/her behalf; and an electronic copy of his/her most recent cumulative transcript (unofficial accepted). For this award only, the student is also required to provide information on financial aid packages from schools he/she is considering attending. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. ET on the deadline date.
