Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a current undergraduate student who will continue to be enrolled in the fall term of the year in which he/she is applying. Students must have at least one quarter or semester of study in the next academic year.
  4. Must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited civil engineering program and have an interest in structural engineering.
  5. Must be a student member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) in good standing at time of application and award.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Current undergraduate students who are enrolled in an ABET-accredited civil engineering program with an interest in structural engineering are eligible for this award. Students must be student members of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)

Application requirements for the Y.C. Yang Civil Engineering Scholarship are:

Additional Information: Through the generosity of Y. C. Yang, Chairman of T. Y. Lin & Y.C. Yang International, a scholarship fund was established in 2004 to foster interest in structural engineering and to encourage students to further their civil engineering education. All applications will be reviewed by the Society Awards Committee or its designee for recommendation to the Executive Committee for final approval. The committee reserves the right to recommend that no award be made in a particular year if no meritorious applications are received. Selection is based on appraisal of the applicant's award justification, educational plan, stated interest in structural engineering, academic performance and standing, development potential, leadership capacity, and financial need. Recipients will be notified of selection in May by the Executive Director the Society.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable. Funds should be used for tuition and tuition-related expenses and will be disbursed in the fall term.Previous holders of the scholarship are eligible to apply in any succeeding competition for these awards provided the other requirements of eligibility are satisfied.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.
