Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. In 2019, Four winners were awarded.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school sophomore or junior at time of application.
  3. Must have a cumulative unweighted grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  4. Must attend an accredited high school or the equivalent in the United States.

Description: This award is for students currently attending a U.S. high school. Applicants must currently be in their sophomore or junior year and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: The Youth Education Summit (Y.E.S.) is a seven-day, expense-paid educational experience in Washington, D.C. Selected applicants will compete for college scholarship awards. Participants are judged based on their initial application, on-site debates and participation during the week. Further details on the summit are available at www.nrafoundation.org/yes/ .

Award Amount: The dollar amounts vary. In 2019, a total of $37,500 was awarded in scholarships amongst four winners.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $37,500.

Applications are available at the National Rifle Association (NRA) Foundation website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: a two- to three-page essay on one of the Second Amendment topics listed on the application; a personal statement of one page or less addressing the topic listed on the application; official high school transcripts (may be sent separately); and three recommendation letters from teachers, members of the clergy, employers, business owners, youth group leaders, or other recognized community leaders. Recommenders should read the form included with the application before writing the letter. The completed application packet must be postmarked by the deadline.
