In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  2. Must reside in or attend a college in the Pittsburgh area.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of application.
  5. Must be interested in pursuing a career related to the concrete industry.

Description: This scholarship is available for Pittsburgh-area undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing a career within the concrete industry.

Additional Information: The ACI Pittsburgh Area Chapter was founded in 1962 by a group of dedicated concrete professions led by Art Livingood, Andy Fertal and Bob Zerns. In June of 1988, the Chapter established the Art Livingood Award Fund to financially assist with the educational expenses of local area undergraduate students who have an interest in the areas of cement technology, or concrete technology, design or construction. Today, the award is named to reognize all of the original founders who made the Chapter possible.

Award Amount: Up to $3,000 annually. All awards are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Applications and information about the Art Livingood Award are available on the American Concrete Institute Pittsburgh Chapter website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application form, applicants must submit the following items: a letter from the applicant describing his/her interest and experience in concrete; an official transcript delivered by the registrar of the university attended; and letters of recommendation from two engineers who are familiar with the student's work in the field. The application and all supporting materials must be mailed to ACI Pittsburgh at the address provided above, and must be received on or before the deadline date.
