Number of Awards & Eligibility: Three awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a current high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student at the time of application.

Description: This essay contest is open to U.S. students graduating high school or enrolled in college/university (undergraduate and graduate included). Students must submit an essay about a pet innovation idea and how the idea was conceptualized.

Application requirements for the Auto-Pets™ “Out-Of-The-Box-Thinking” Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Essay
  • Enrollment verif.
  • Official Transcript
Additional Information: The winners will not only be judged by their pet-related idea, but also on the thought process that led them to the idea in the first place. It is understood that not every idea is a "winning" or "novel" concept, so how the idea is explained, why the product is needed, what are the marketing strategies, who is the target market, and everything else included to demonstrate the thought process are important factors in the selection process. The winners will be announced on Dec. 31.

Award Amount: The grand prize winner will receive $1,250, second place will receive $500, and third will receive $250 each. Awards are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are available on the Automated Pet Care Products website. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit an essay of at least 400 words (500 or more words recommended) about a pet innovation idea and how the idea was conceptualized. Specific topics to include in the essay are listed on the website. All submissions must be saved and uploaded in .pdf format. Applications must be submitted by the deadline date. Please note: After submission of the application, the student will receive a confirmation email with instructions for submission of his/her academic records confirming current or planned enrollment in school.
