Cancer for College
Award amounts range from $1,000 to $5,000 annually. The typical award amount is $5,000 but may be reduced if the student has a lower amount of unmet financial need. Scholarships may be renewable for up to three additional years of undergraduate study.
The number of awards provided depends on the number of qualified applicants and the amount of available funding. Last year, 13 new scholarships were awarded.
Since 1993, Cancer for College has worked to provide inspiration and financial assistance to students who have been diagnosed with cancer. Award selection is based on all submitted documentation, with extra emphasis placed on academic achievement, unmet financial need, and the impact cancer has had on the student. Students who do not remain enrolled full time as well as students who are transfering from a four-year college or university to a two-year community college may face cancelation of scholarship awards. Students may suspend their scholarship for up to one year for verified medical reasons, and students who have previously faced scholarship cancelation may re-apply with top priority during future years.
