Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of Rhode Island.
  3. Must be 25 years of age or older.
  4. Must be enrolled in a degree-conferring non-parochial institute in Rhode Island. Preference is given to students attending Rhode Island College, Community College of Rhode Island, or University of Rhode Island.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  6. Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree.

Applications are available on the Rhode Island Foundation website. The student must click on the "Scholarship/Fellowship Opportunities" link and then search for his/her desired scholarship to access the application. As part of the online application, the student must upload the following required documents: a completed 'Financial Information Worksheet' (accessible for download in the application); a copy of his/her SAR (Student Aid Report), which is generated after filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid); the most recent version of his/her student transcript (unofficial accepted); an essay of 500 words or less on the topic listed on the application; and one recommendation letter from a teacher or other professional who can attest to his/her specific qualifications that would make him/her a worthy candidate for this award. Documents must be in Word, Excel, or PDF formats. File names should describe the attachment. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. EST on the deadline date.
