Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior or be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
  3. Must be under age 25 at the time of application.
  4. Preference is given to students who are self-identified lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT), members of LGBT families, or straight-allies who have been strongly supportive of the LGBT community.
  5. Must be a resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington state.
  6. Must major in music.
  7. Must be a U.S. citizen.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for U.S. students under the age of 25 who graduated from any West Seattle high school or are studying music. Applicants must be residents of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon or Washington but may study elsewhere. Preference is given to students who are self-identified lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT), members of LGBT families, or straight-allies who have been strongly supportive of the LGBT community.

Application requirements for the Rainbow City Band Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Interview
  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Artwork samples (opt.)
Additional Information: Pride Foundation is able to offer a diversity of scholarships, which encourage students of different backgrounds and educational interests to apply. Most scholarships are available for straight ally or questioning students as well as student of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) parents. All promote leadership and diversity in the LGBT community.

Award Amount: The monetary award amount varies and is determined by the Pride Foundation. Generally, scholarships offered through the foundation are a minimum of $500 to a maximum of $12,000. The award is offered annually and is non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $12,000.
