Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to five awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a graduating high school senior or currently enrolled college student.
  3. Must be majoring in an aviation-related field, including, but not limited to: aerospace engineering, air traffic control, aircraft charter, aircraft maintenance, aviation administration/management, aviation flight, or aviation avionics/aircraft electronics.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Priority will be given to Chicago area residents, followed by Illinois residents.

Description: This scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current college students who are studying in an aviation-related field and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Priority will be given to Chicago area residents, followed by Illinois residents.

Additional Information: The financial information the student submits for his/her application should be as comprehensive as possible because the first criterion for consideration is need. Winners will be notified by phone after July 6, and will be invited to attend the annual CABAA Golf Classic in early August, to collect their check.

Award Amount: $7,500 annually, non-renewable. Scholarship funds will be paid to the student and college or university of which the recipient is enrolled and are to be used to pay tuition or fees for aviation-specific programs.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $7,500.

Applications are available online on the Chicago Area Business Aviation Association (CABAA) website.Before beginning the online application, the student should collect the following documents, as the application cannot be saved once begun: three letters of recommendation, at least one of which must be from a person currently employed in the field of business aviation (no more than one letter from a professor/teacher allowed); his/her current grade transcript (official required if awarded); an essay on one of the current year's topics, written in a manner that allows the student to provide as much information as possible about how he/she plans to continue in the business aviation industry and how this scholarship and CABAA will help to contribute to his/her continued education and success in business aviation; and a written financial statement that includes all expected costs, his/her plans for financing his/her college education, and any special personal or family circumstances. All documents must be in .doc, .docx, or .pdf formats. The file size for each document cannot exceed 500 kb. Completed applications, including uploaded supplemental documents, must be submitted by the deadline date.
