Number of Awards & Eligibility: Please note: The number of recipients for this program varies according to the number of students meeting the eligibility requirements in any given year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international students.
  2. Must plan to transfer to Ashland University in Ohio.
  3. Must have completed 15 or more credit hours at an accredited school of higher education.
  4. Must have a cumulative college grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must enroll full time.
  6. Must attend a college or university in Ohio.

Description: This award is for international students who have completed 15 or more credit hours with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher and satisfactory TOEFL or IELTS scores and are planning to transfer to Ashland University in Ohio.

Application requirements for the Ashland University International Transfer Scholarship are:

  • $50 app. fee

  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript
Additional Information: If a student is eligible for any scholarship, the scholarship is automatically granted as a reduction in tuition. There are no extra forms to complete. The amount of the scholarship will be reflected on the I-20 form or DS-2019 form. The award does not apply to summer program study, graduate study, or intensive English language study.

Award Amount: The monetary award amount is based on the applicant's grade point average and TOEFL or IELTS score. Annual amounts range from $3,500 to $7,500. All awards are renewable for an additional four years, as long as the student maintains a grade point average of 3.0 or higher at Ashland University at the end of each academic year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $22,000.

Students must apply for admission to Ashland University (AU) to be considered for this award. An additional scholarship application is not required. The following materials must be submitted with the completed admissions application: an English proficiency report (official TOEFL or IELTS scores); certified transcripts of high school graduation and any secondary school grade reports in English and in the applicant's original language; a completed 'Financial Certification' form and a bank statement to support the amount on the form; a copy of the student's passport (if available); official SAT or ACT scores (optional); a personal statement about why the student has chosen Ashland University; and a non-refundable application fee of $50 (includes express mail). Completed applications for the fall semester should reach the Ashland University Admissions office by July 1, and applications for the spring semester should arrive by Nov. 15.
