In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a resident of Cleburne County in Arkansas.
  4. Must be a single parent with one or more children under the age of 18.
  5. Must be the head of the household.
  6. Must have and maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  7. Must be a high school graduate (or the equivalent) or older at time of application. Applicants cannot already have earned an undergraduate degree unless pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching degree.
  8. Must be pursuing a vocationally-oriented undergraduate course of study (full- or part-time) to ensure a better standard of living for his/her family.
  9. Must be a low-income person at or near the poverty level.
  10. Must be single (never married), divorced, or widowed.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: U.S. undergraduate students who are residents of Cleburne County, Arkansas are eligible for this award. Students must be single parents with one or more children who are under the age of 18, be the head of household, and have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Application requirements for the Cleburne County Single Parent Scholarship are:

  • Interview
  • Recommendation letter
  • FAFSA
  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript
  • Proof of acceptance/enrollment
Additional Information: All applicants will be required to have a 15 to 20 minute interview with the scholarship board members. The date of the interview will be sent to the student after submission of his/her application. Applicants may also be required to submit additional references.

Award Amount: $500 per semester, non-renewable. The award for summer semester is $250. Students may reapply for each semester that they are attending school. The amount of this scholarship is pro-rated for part-time students.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.
