In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or a qualifying non-citizen.
  3. Must be enrolled as a part-time student.
  4. Must enroll in an approved undergraduate degree program or registered certificate program at a degree-granting institution in New York.
  5. Must be a legal resident of New York.
  6. Must demonstrate financial need and meet income eligibility limitations, as set by the New York Higher Education Commission.
  7. Must be a high school graduate or older.
  8. Must be in good academic standing.

Description: This award is available to U.S. undergraduate students who are enrolled part-time at eligible institutions in New York State. The student must demonstrate financial need and meet income eligibility limitations set by the New York Higher Education Commission.

Additional Information: The New York State Higher Education Services Corporation distributes Aid for Part-Time Study funds to participating colleges in New York. Final scholarship eligibility is determined by the college or university. Eligible students must meet the following income limitations: Students who are eligible to be claimed as tax dependents must not have a New York State NET taxable income which exceeds $50,550. The taxable income includes the student's and parent's income. Independent students must not have a New York State NET taxable income (including spouse's income) may not exceed $34,250. The spouse's income must be included if they were married on or before December 31 of the previous calendar year. Students who are not eligible to be claimed but are eligible to claim tax dependents other than self and/or spouse, the New York State NET taxable income (including spouse's income) may not exceed $50,550 (the spouse's income must be included if married on or before December 31 of the previous calendar year). In addition, applicants must: not have used up Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) eligibility; maintain good academic standing; and not be in default on a Federal Family Education Loan. Award Amount: Up to $2,000 annually for part-time undergraduate study at participating institutions in New York State. Awards cannot exceed tuition charges.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.
