Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. and international students.
  2. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student at the time of application.
  3. Must be lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or a stright ally dedicated to LGBT causes.
  4. Must reside in Wayne, Oakland, or Macomb counties of Michigan.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. and international students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or as a straight ally. Applicants must reside in Wayne, Oakland, or Macomb counties in Michigan, and must enroll in an accredited institution of higher education in the semester following application.

Additional Information: PFLAG-Detroit is pleased to provide an annual scholarship award to a student who has shown support for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals or programs.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

Applications are available at the Detroit Chapter of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) website. In addition to a completed application form and essay responses, students must submit one letters of reference/nomination that speaks to the applicant's community service efforts and commitment to LGBT causes. All application materials and supporting documents must be mailed to the address provided above, and must be postmarked by the deadline date.
