Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually. At least one of the awards will be awarded to a Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) student post member that meets the criteria. If there are no SAME applicants, the award is open to all other students.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a current undergraduate student.
  4. Must meet admission requirements and be accepted to the University of North Florida.
  5. Must be a declared major in engineering or construction management.
  6. Must have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher at time of application.
  7. Must plan to enroll full time (12 or more credit hours per semester).

Description: This scholarship is available to students at the University of North Florida who have a declared major in engineering or construction management. Students must: have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher; be involved in extracurricular activities; and demonstrate leadership in their activities.

Additional Information: Applicants must be involved with extracurricular activities, such as varsity sports teams, student clubs, work, research, church groups, community service events, mentoring/tutoring, etc., but not leisure activities, such as intramural sports, sailing, bowling, etc. Applicants must also demonstrate leadership skills in any activities in which the student is involved, whether extracurricular or for leisure. For example, being an officer/leader in a student club, work shift lead/supervisor/manager, sports team captain, tutoring coordinator, bowling league coordinator, intramural soccer team captain, etc. Scholarship recipients must: maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or higher; remain in good standing as a student; comply with all University regulations, rules, and codes of conduct governing students on campus; and consent to release grades to the Division of Institutional Advancement for the purpose of reporting to the donor.

Award Amount: $1500 annually, non-renewable. The award may be applied to spring term only.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Applications are available online on the University of North Florida (UNF) College of Computing, Engineering & Construction (CCEC) website. As part of the online application, the student must submit short essay answers (300 characters or less) describing his/her career interests, extracurricular activities, and work experience. For this scholarship, students must also submit an essay of 150-250 words on "What I hope to accomplish as a practicing architect/construction manager or engineer and how will these goals impact/influence communities". The scholarship application must be completed online and submitted by the deadline date. Only electronic applications will be considered.
