Number of Awards & Eligibility: Three awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  2. This award is for U.S. students.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  4. Must reside in Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, or Texas.

Description: This scholarship is available for high school seniors in Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Texas who submit a video demonstrating the benefits of rice agriculture in the United States.

Application requirements for the National Rice Month Scholarship Program are:

Additional Information: September is national rice month in America, and to celebrate, the U.S.A. Rice Federation provides this annual award to high school seniors who create projects and presentations that demonstrate the importance and positive impact of rice agriculture in the United States. Upon selection, winning students will be required to provide proof of enrollment at an accredited college or university in the U.S.

Award Amount: $4,000 for first prize, $3,000 for second, and $1,500 for third. All prizes are awarded annually and are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $8,500.

Applications and additional information about this award can be found at the USA Rice Federation ThinkRice website. To be considered for this award, students must create an original video on the topic of rice, such as: describing the nutritional benefits, economic impact, or other positive aspects of rice agriculture. The completed video must be submitted with the application, as well as a short statement on the themes and topics the video hopes to address. All completed applications must be received online by the deadline date.
