I have only gone there for 1 semester, and was quite upset by how the theatre department there wasn't keeping up with other schools during the pandemic. The school is also more of a commuter school, so not much to do, and not many off campus options, if any at all. I got lucky and found one on airbnb, but others may not be. This is a relatively small school, and as someone who was trying to look for a big school, adventure, I was disappointed. But it is not a bad school, just caught it at the wrong time
GSU is an interactive environment that encourages students to engage in their education and get involved on campus. The professors and administration work with students for the best rate of success. There is a variety of clubs on campus and students have several opportunities to take on leadership roles.
I would say that Governors State University has a great psychology program that has wonderful instructors teaching the courses. Their financial office always helps in anyway they can. I wish the university offered more diverse scholarships for those who are do not fit the criteria for the offered scholarships. I wish that the psychology program advisors were more helpful with guiding students when they are choosing their classes. They have a lovely campus with amazing sculptures and artwork inside and out.
Governors State University has an innumerable amount of potential but, the university as a whole is just not there yet. Granted, the university is fairly new to having freshmen being that it is only the second year with undergraduates enrolled so they have room to grow. But, many things need to be worked on. Extracurricular activities need to be worked on. The university does not give you a typical college feel because there aren't certain activities at the school that would regularly be at others. Also, the housing needs to be improved. RA's need to be more professional and accessible. But overall, GSU has room to be a great university years down the line when they get a hang of having undergraduates enrolled.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Governors State University is 41%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
I would say-HEY you get your education now and dont wait until you have children and struggle for the degree. If you attend now, you can earn your degree sooner than the 20 years you been waiting for it. Plus if you attend now, you would have to worry about the additional subjects that you would need to take years down the road. School always add other classes to the list to graduate and if you do it now, you wouldnt have to worry about that. Its not as hard as you think it is to attend college, people are there to help you, what ever comes you way, they are there for you. All you have to do is ask, there is no stupid question.
My classmates are of different races, classes, and gender, but are all eager to learn how to be great social workers
The best thing about Governor State is, they take most of your other college credits and have a great choice of classes. I like their online course as well as on campus classes; the instructors are great too, they know how to relate and talk with the students and give extra time for them if they need additional help. GSU has everything I need from counseling if I need it, they are all ways willing to help.
We are able to take business course and travel aboard.
College is extremely important , I feel anyone regardless of age who can should try to pursue a higher education. With the economic environment today, a GED or High School diploma is not adequate, the standards are becoming much higher. The workforce competition is tough and getting tougher for our next generation, a college degree is encouraged to constatly upgrade skills.
Govenors State University is a multi-cultural university that does not descriminate and allows you to suceed in the the field and graduate program of your choice.
