What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Pick what reflects you. Never let anyone tell you where to go because what might be for them could be horrible for you. Pick a place you know you will be comfortable.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The strictness is necessary but can be smothering sometimes.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

To parents I would stress that it is most important for them to allow for the student to make their choice as to what school to attend. Parents should not force the student to select the school of their choice, whether it is their alma mater, close to home, etc. Choosing a college is an important life decision, directing the future of the student. Leave it up to the student. To the student I must say, like most things in life, the college experience is what you make it. This is applicable to all aspects of college, academic and social. It is important to be proactive and seek the best opportunities in college, do not sit idle and expect opportunities to succeed to fall into your lap.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing is how much debt I will be in when I graduate.

We vary in shapes, sizes, colors, and opinions- ask each of us a question and expect to get a different answer.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Decide that you want in a college: big, small, conservative, liberal, business focused, social minded and find it. Then once you have found it stick with it and find a way to make it work.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Make sure the student is academically ready for the challenges they will be facing at the school they are going to attend. Also make sure the school they are going to attend has enough extracurricular activities that will fit them. I would also urge students to then become academically involved and to find a niche that best suits them.

What kind of person should not attend this school?

ISomeone who is not academically enthusiastic should not attend this college because it is very tough academically. Also someone who is atheist should consider a different college as well because it is a Christian college.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

I typically like to brag about how academically tough it is here because many of my friends are not as academically challenged as I. I also enjoy bragging at how good the baseball team is!

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Start looking for your options early and know what you are looking for whether it is rural, urban, close to home, small, etc. Be involved with something, whether its clubs, sports, etc. Have a comfort base established early freshman year so that you feel needed and included within the student body. Focus on your academics so that you can make the most of your education and the tuition you have put into it. Don't follow where your friends are going. If you're a Christian, let the Lord lead you to where He wants you to go. And don't wait until it is too late to pick a major! Have some idea what you want to do for the next four years of your life! Don't forget to have fun and love the college you're in because it is some of the best memories of our lives.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

That my high school was very insuperior in athletics so that I would never be able to compare with college sports. And also that the athletic acceptances are not for Christian testimony, if they're athletes, just about any of them can be accepted and a bad influence on the student body.

What kind of person should not attend this school?

People who do not respect Christian views in every day life. Addicts of drugs, alcohol, smoking, and sex should never come as it is against the rules. Someone who cannot handle hard academics without mooching off other students.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

The people here are very friendly and engaged. Everyone cares about everyone and people genuinly like each other.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Make sure you visit multiple colleges. Do not settle on the first college you come across because believe it or not, no matter how much you might like your first college visit, there might be another college out there you like better. And, the good thing is, if there isn't one you like better, you can always chose that first one and be satisfied that you made the best choice. It is also important to look at the graduate job ratings. How many graduates are able to get jobs from companies because they recognize the name of the school or the program that you came from. Good luck. Your college decision is a huge one that will impact your entire future. Make the best choice you possibly can.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Go to the school that you know you want to go to the first time you set foot on campus. Do not worry so much about all the details, focus on whether or not your impression of the school fits with a lifestyle and emotions that you want in your life, in your friendships, and in your professoral relationships.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish that I would have known more about Church politics and the difficulties of landing your first "real job". The economy has been so challenging recently and the scope of my degree is so incredibly narrow, that I wish I would have specialized in an area that is in higher demand.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

A majority of students, especially freshman, can be caddy, close-minded and gossipy. It's incredibly frustrating, but it results from the school being based in the conservative "Christian Church" world. The professors do an excellent job of breaking most students from their close-minded molds and encourage an openness and love for all people that this world so desperately needs. And the financial aid office is terrible, serious adjustments to financial aid staff need to be made.

The small close-knit campus, the very qualified staff, and great academics.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

In finding a college, it is important to not let price-tags deter you -- they can look very steep! Most colleges offer adequate financial aid to make even a private college affordable for any student who qualifies for admission. It is also very important to visit a college you are interested in because while viewbooks and websites can make a school look fantastic, what really counts is the students, professors, and staff which is something you can't truly determine from pictures. Lastly, once you are there -- get involved! Making connections from day one makes the transition to college that much easier. While academics are most definitely imporant, it's having a network of friends that can end up being the difference between having a good college experience and having a bad one

Don't worry or stress. Find something you want to study and go for it.

What kind of person should not attend this school?

If you are looking to just goof off and not be serious, don't go here. Also if you are someone who will just complain without working toward change... don't go here.
