What is your overall opinion of this school?

I really like that Trinity is not at all a 'suitcase school' meaning that most students remain on or around campus throughout the week and weekends. However, this can lead to a 'bubbling' affect. There is not as much interaction with the Hartford community because most students are campus centered.

Describe the students at your school.

Most students come from New England but there is also a substantial population from California and even Minnesota. Trinity can be a bit intimidating to students who are not aware of or used to upper-class north eastern culture. However, I think that a good majority of students are welcoming and accepting and, if student participate in school functions and get out and about on campus, most people can find someone or some group of people that they can relate to or share interests with.

What are the academics like at your school?

I really enjoy attending class at Trinity and very rarely miss. I think Trinity has a lot of interesting professors with interesting things to say on interesting topics. While students are not overly competetive so as to make class formal and strenuous, most students are serious about their studies. Many students do develop relationship with their professors and professors do a good job at learning peoples names and being approachable for their students.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

People attend games and campus activities on weekends. People also go downtown in Hartford to bars and restaurants. There is also a lot of room parties, athletic club, and fraternity/sorority parties on/around campus to attend. While the population of Trinity students who drink are some of the more visible students on campus, I would suspect that about half of the student population does NOT drink. I myself am not one of the non-drinkers so I am unsure of what sober activities people who do not drink engage in on weekends.

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

trinity is a varied place with varied people. Some are 'old money' and preppy.

What are the academics like at your school?

Trinity students work hard. The library is always busy.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

There are a lot of opportunities to attend a various range of events, be it entertainment or intellectual. Some are well attended many others not. People party often and hard.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

i think there is a great deal of school pride-i spend a majority of time involved with my accapello group, the trinitones, and i love it. i am amazed by how many students at trinity support accapello as there is always a huge turnout for all of our concerts. I spend the majority of time on campus in either a. the dining halls or b. the library. i love the library at trinity-i find it to be the best place to get your work done as there is such a warm and calm atmosphere to it.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

i think there is a great deal of school pride-i spend a majority of time involved with my accapello group, the trinitones, and i love it. i think sometimes the school feels a little too small but it is what you make of it.

Describe the students at your school.

i think that it is evident that a majority of the campus comes from wealthy backgrounds and that a lot of students went to small private schools before they attended a small, private college. however, while there is a large amount of students in this position, there is also a huge population of students who did not come from private schools, etc. i think that trinity students are relatively politcally aware but probabaly not as much as on other campuses. on average, i would say that trinity students (males and females) get dressed up for class-everyone tends to look good when they go to class.

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

I think that a large portion of the school is made up of students who come from wealthy backgrounds but the notion that comes along with that, more specifically, that these types of kids don't know how to appreciate anything or know how to work hard, i do not agree with. I find it very frustrating that such stereotypes exist because i do not find them to be true at all.

What are the academics like at your school?

i think sometimes the school feels a little too small but it is what you make of it. i love the small class sizes and the fact that i can know my professor and he/she knows me. i feel comfortable speaking in class and i love the individual attention all students receive. I feel as though trinity is a college where the students work really hard-i know that i am always in the library and my friends are always right there alongside me. in addition to this, i feel as though the students are very competitve in terms of classes and grades. i LOVE the religion department; the professors are all great, the classes are great-the professors are always available for you outside of class as well and really care about you learning.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

athletic events are really popular-showing a great deal of stduent pride. fraternities are also really popular. i would say that a huge population on campus attends the fraternities on weekends. i think that dorms have a huge influence on who you are friends with. for me, my closest friends are all girls who i lived in the same freshman year dorm as. homecoming is a huge social event that occurs every year that alumni return to campus for a it is a really fun day.

What is the stereotype of students at your school?

A couple of stereos that i have come into contact with regarding Trinity students is that basically, everyone is very well off, in terms of money, and everyone is good-looking and along with this, comes the idea that trinity students have no appreciation for what they have and take it for granted.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

there is a diverse social climate on this campus, and at times that can make things rocky. i would love for there to be one thing that ties all students together (possibly a college town), but in the meantime, there are countless debates that come up along this point, with little to be done about the problem.

Describe the students at your school.

i know that racial diversity has been a big topic for debate, and i wouldn't know where to begin to make people feel more comfortable about the issue.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

at times there are students who get caught up in the campus power struggle on both sides. some students want to take over the school and aggressively go after change, while some students only want to rebel against those who try to restrict them. this is something that creates more conflict on the campus, rather than helping it, which is the premise on which people get themselves involved in something like this.

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

at times, and with certain people, but i think generally there is a good balance of people who work hard, people who play hard, and people who do both.

What are the academics like at your school?

the class sizes are small, but that being said i got very lucky with an advisor who i'm very close with. i know this is not always the case with students, and i would like to see that develop more.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

i would love it if there were places that we could go off campus to party, but there are very few options within walking distance, and that number keeps getting smaller. so that leaves students to party on campus, which ends up creating controversy among students in different social circles (people who want to go out versus people who don't who get fed up with the noise and the party mentality).

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Academically Trinity is a spectacular school. I cannot say enough about how supportive and knowledgable my professors are or how stimulating my classes are. There are ample opportunities to enrich your knowledge outside of the classroom and wonderful events that are held on campus. Unfortunately, I wish more students took advantage of the wonderful things Trinity has to offer. Many events are sparsely attended. Socially, Trinity is an active and fun environment, however, given its size it can feel a little small by senior year. Greek life plays an active role in the social scene at Trinity, which is an excellent outlet for those involved. However, can be difficult for those outside of it. The resources of Trinity's Greek community i.e. the number of frats and sororities and the number of events they hold or people they accept does not match the demand. Students are thus sometimes left out in the cold. The downtown scene in Hartford and Trinity's college bar, The Tap helps to alleviate this problem for many seniors. Dtudents from all different social circles go to bars downtown and The Tap, thus they become excellent places for running into friends.

Describe the students at your school.

There are a diverse group of student on campus coming from a variety of backgrounds, however, they do not often mix outside of class. Trinity can sometimes be a stratified and segmented community, yet its small size does not allow students to completely isolate themselves from one another.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

Hartford is underrated. There are great restaurants, shows, museums, concerts, and bars.

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

While half of Trinity's student do come from independent schools, I do not think that Trinity students are overwhelmingly snobby or upper class. There is a growing amount of diversity on campus that is well-supported and encouraged by the faculty and student body.

What are the academics like at your school?

Trinity's academic community is geared towards learning for its own sake and class participation is greatly encouraged. I not only know my professors by name but have been to some of their houses and I cannot say enough wonderful things about the English department.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Trinity is definitely a social campus. There is something to do almost every night of the week and consistent partying Thursday-Sunday and usually on Tuesdays as well. Students here "work hard and play hard" and attend athletic events as well as sorority functions. While it is fun to travel up to Boston or down to New York on the weekends, students are generally reluctant to do so because the Trinity social scene is so vibrant.

What is the stereotype of students at your school?

Unfortunately, I think that many people view Trinity as a wealthy, elitist school with snobby students. Stereotypically, Trinity students are white and from a prep-school background.

Describe the students at your school.

Overall, the student body here is not very accepting of peoples' differences. i know a number of gay people on this campus that have been a target of offensive remarks and actions. most of the people i am friends with are republican but there are a good number of very liberal people on campus.

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

To some exgtent, yes, but there are always exceptions

What are the academics like at your school?

The classes here are all fairly challenging, depending on the ones you choose to take. my favorite classes that i have taken have all been taught by Gregory Smith, and they are philosophy classes. i also enjoy the sociology and psychology classes i have taken thus far.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

The most popular part of Trinity's social like is drinking and the greek life on vernon street. it seems like the weekends revolve around alcohol. not many people here have boyfriends or girlfriends, rather, sudents choose to "hook up" randomly with different people every weekend.

What is the stereotype of students at your school?

Everyone who goes here is wealthy and conservative and judgemental

What is your overall opinion of this school?

the best thing about trinity is the beautiful campus green, springtime on the quad. i'd make it safer by adding more lights. trinity is just right. i get positive reactions when i say i go to trinity. i spend most of my time in the library. downtown hartford and west hartford are great- delicious restaurants; however, the surrounding area is a bit dangerous. safety is a big issue at our school, and the fact that a student just recently was assaulted is a horrible problem.

Describe the students at your school.

student body is diverse compared to other small liberal arts school

What are the academics like at your school?

my favorite class was medical anthroplogy. least favorite class was statistics. students study all the time. students are active in class. anthropology department is small, close-knit. trinity should have a class about diversity/race/ethnicity as an academic requirement. education is definitely about learning for its own sake.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

trinity has a really fun social life. i spend most of my nights at the frats, but there are other options too, such as the fred. students leave their doors open. athletic events are very popular, especially in the spring time. i met my closest friends in my dorm freshman year and through my sorority. if i'm awake at 2am on a Tuesday, i'm either studying for a test, writing a paper, or coming home from the tap. people party at least 3 nights a week.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I like that its a smaller school in a urban setting but has a campus. The downside is that the urban setting is Hartford, although it does provide for a good learning experience. Go school for connections but only in this part of the country. Biggest controversies on campus are safety and diversity.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I like that its a smaller school in a urban setting but has a campus. The downside is that the urban setting is Hartford, although it does provide for a good learning experience.

Describe the students at your school.

Most students get dressed for class- not a sloppy student body, which goes along with the generally good-looking stereotype. Groups often don't mix. Mostly a higher socio-economic background. Students are generally knowledgeable about worldly and national issues.

What are the academics like at your school?

High academics for a school of our size. Good relationships with professors but students don't always make an effort to learn outside the classroom. Small class sizes promote class participation and generally, most students attend the majority of their classes. I like that Trinity does not have any required classes or a core curriculum.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Good social scene. Mostly on campus activities. Lots of drinking, generally go out 3 to 4 nights a week. It is only 20 percent greek but that is the social life that I am mostly familiar with. I mostly attend greek events and after that, TCAC events like the 80s dance. Spring weekend is the best annual event. Its also nice to have a movie theater on campus to give you something to do on a boring wednesday night.

What is the stereotype of students at your school?

snobby, all wealthy, all good-looking

Describe the students at your school.

in general, the kids are happy and content at trinity. there is not much diversity here, yet this does not seem to be a huge concern for a majority of the students.

What are the academics like at your school?

academics are what you make it at trinity. If you want to be challenged and be engaged in class, there are many opportunities to do so. if you want to take a backseat on your education, there are ways to take easy classes where attendence is not required.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

as stated before, kids at trinity love to party. if you dont like to drink or do drugs, there are not a lot of options on a saturday night, except perhaps to leave campus or watch a movie. love them or hate them, frats completely dominate the social scene.
