What I would go back in time and tell my high school self about college life and making the transition is to save as much money as possible. To appreciate your high school teachers; for college professors could care less about you truning in a paper. Be ready to choose between paying for lunch or gas in your car. College is not a party this will determine who you'll be in the next decade lay a strong foundation.
The fact that there is no shuttle bus, therefore requiring me to depend on asking classmates for a ride or public transportation, which may not always be dependable or convenient.
My classmates are among the most focused, dedicated and hardworking individuals I have met in any field.
Our school is best known for its excellent photography and visual journalism programs. It is one of the best in the country, is world renowned and has even produced photgraphys' elite.
I am proud to expound upon the academic rigor of Brooks Institute when discussing the qualities of my school with friends and family. Unlike most schools offering majors in Photography, the curriculum at Brooks does not focus on artistic, but rather technical acheivement. Although the degree granted is a BFA, the program heavily emphasizes the practical skills neccesary to succeed in the field. There is an intense focus on experiental learning and mastery of technical skill which leads to superior levels of acheivment. It is the extremely rigorus nature of our program which produces graduates of exemplary ability and acheivement.
Brooks Institute of Photography is a great school where you get to learn all the little details for making the perfect picture by the most well known photographers in the city. Our faculty and students are very close and if there's ever a problem that you need help with, there is always someone there to help or talk to.
It is truly prepapring me to be successful in my career as a professional photographer
Nothing, the school does an awesome job during orientation and even before orientation to prepare students for what is to be expected and how the flow and pace of the school are much different than that of any other including UC's and state universitys.
A mature adult prepared to work extremely hard. This school is far from easy and time management is essential.
This school is a very regerious school. If you are not ready to work hard then this is not the school for you. Also, if you don't want something fast paced then this school isn't right for you.`
The best thing about Brooks Institute would have to the learning experience. The learning experience is unlike any other school; because instead of just reading about it, and discussing the topic we have hands on assignments in field. For example the Wedding Certificate Program it's all hands on, we discuss the topic, and then spend the rest of the day working with, and using that concept. In the Visual Journalism Program we spend most of our time in the field, photographing events, and creating stories. It not about passing a test, it about learning to work in the field.
That we don't have a cafeteria or anyplace close to go eat. Just some vending machines but teh closes place to get food is like 5 minutes away driving
