It is treated like a high school; not many people put in effort, and the environment still feels like a high school with the carefree attitude. Along with this some students often do drugs leaving the smell inside building letting you see and smell it in all the lobbies.
I’d recommend to those who don’t mind not having anything to do on the weekends. There’s not a mall/movie theatre in town. It’s best to stay on campus for the weekends because many people go home and the campus is quiet enough to study and catch up on sleep.
Georgia Southwestern is my dream school. The size is not too big or small, the class size is perfect. While there are fraternities and sororities on the campus they are not the largest groups. The school is very opening and everyone is very nice. It was impossible not to make friends at the school. I am happy to say that I am a student at Georgia Southwestern.
This school is great for people who enjoy a small town, close community. There is not a lot of things to do. You have get creative to make things fun. The class sizes are great. Not too intimidating. I enjoy that there isn't too much going on. That way I can get to all of the activities that are happening. I give this school a 3/5.

If I could go back in time to when I was a high school senior, I would tell myself to start learning good study habits. College is nothing like high school. In high school there was no need to study because the teachers went over exactly what was need for the tests, but in college they require you to do must of your learning in your own time. Therefore if I could go back in time I would tell myself to be prepared for this challenge. That would lead me to being able to study more efficently and know how to do my assignment well before they are due. I believe that me going back in time would change my whole freshman experience completely, and I would be thankful for that.
Georgia Southwestern State University is a highly, well developed university that not only focuses on academics, but also on both individuality and teamwork improvement which I think serves as an immense building block for future success!
Nothing
I brag about my schools academics and how must of it students go on to higher education and becoming experts in their fields.
The worst thing about my school is all of the hidden expences. I am an art major, and I understand that it can take alot of supplies, but I had absolutely no idea as to what my professors wanted me to buy. As another set back, the university has been sending me suprise letters that state that I owe them $900 for adding on two more classes when I have been told that i would not have been charged if I took more hours. There are just way to many suprises where as money is concerned.
We've just started our classes so I dont really know them well, but I would say that they are prepared or getting prepared and ready to start working. I don't mean to say that everyone is the same because everyone is different, but the majority seem prepared to make the best of class.
The cost of your tuition, is very cheap, and considering what you pay for, you get a lot in return.
The best thing about Georgia Southwestern State University would have to be the friendly and nice atmosphere that you get adjusted to. A diverse campus is a better campus to understand, learn, and become adapt to life from different perspectives. Here at Georgia Southwestern, students not only get a chance to grow physically, mentally, and socially, but they get a chance to become someone who will be remembered for their good deeds.
If you love the big city life I would advise that you do not attend. If you are looking for large classes. If you are not open minded about going to a small school in a rural area.
This school is best known for academic acheivement and community service.
There is a large diversity in the students attending GSW. There are many foreign students that bring insight to the rest of the world. Acceptance is commonplace.
There is a large shortage of technological improvements that hinder the students' ability to effectively learn . Compared to the number of students that attend Georgia Southwestern, the number of available computers and printers is lacking. Even if one had his or her own computer to use, wireless internet is scarce. A student must either live in the dorms or go to the campus coffee shop. It is impossible to do research in the classroom due to this lack of internet service.
