Heather - 12/08/2020

My opinion of Ivy Tech Community College is that it is a great school to attend overall. Yes, it does not have campus dinning, housing, sports, or even Greek sorority life, but it is a small and connected campus with many options. They offer college life more affordably that can fit any lifestyle. Whether you are fresh out of high school and you're not sure what you want to do yet, they have you, if you are a single mother looking to go back to school to find a better career, they have you, or even if you are a father looking to go to school online while also working full time, they have you. Ivy Tech Community College has campuses all over the state of Indiana, all with many many options for degrees; you can take classes online, in person, or even from 5 different campuses. It is a very versatile school that is a great option for anyone.

I appreciate the fact that the professors are almost always available to the students. In addition to this, student resources are easily accessible. It is a community college, so there aren't many organizations or clubs on campus. However, overall a great learning experience.

Brooke - 07/18/2020

I took a summer class here. The tuition is unbeatable, and the staff is immensely supportive. The application process is a snap, too. The professors are kind and intelligent in their fields, and the students are eager to learn. Ivy Tech is unique in that it brings together all kinds of students- international, graduate, non-degree-seeking, parents, and more. Everyone is welcome here, though, because we are all united in a desire to learn.

Brianna - 06/02/2020

It is a nice school. I have liked most of my teachers. I am doing well here. The teachers and other staff are supportive. The campus is easy to navigate and clean. There is a lot of available parking. There are always activities going on, to help students with classes. When I enrolled, enrolling was easy. There was always someone there to help.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I could go back in time and talk to myself in high school, I think i would tell myself to create a habit of not procrastinating. I have a bad habit of waiting until the last minute to do something, and when it takes a lot of time to complete i get really bored. This causes me to do things poorly. So, i would tell myself to get on top of things early and keep it that way.

  4. What's unique about your campus?

My school is a great school to attend if you are a working student or a parent. They offer many classes in every field during different times throughout the day and week. This way the students don't feel limited and won't miss out on the classes they would like to take. They just started midnight madness classes this semester to accomodate for those people who are busy throughout the day. Some do not like to take online courses and would rather be taught in person. That's why these midnight classes are beneficial.

  5. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Parking. There are never enough parking spaces, and people have been known to be late to class because they had to search and/or wait for an available space. The campus is in a somewhat remote location, so there isn't any other nearby available parking.

  14. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The thing that is frustrating is that they eliminated all student services at the Lawrence campus on Saturday. Having the financial aid, bursar, and academic advising available at the Lawrence campus really helped students that work during the weekdays. If I need to do something adminstratively, I will have to go the North Meridian Campus, which is very hard to do because of traffic.
