What is your overall opinion of this school?

Kentucky Wesleyan college is a small college. The campus is relatively small compared to other colleges or universities in Kentucky. The class sizes rarely grow to be larger than twenty-five students, however, there are exceptions. This facilitates instruction, because professors are better able to leture and connect with students in one on one teachings or tutoring sessions during office hours. Like any college or university you will find that it is the most diverse place compared to the surrounding urban areas. Overall, Kentucky Wesleyan College is a good college with lots to offer if you know where to look.

The college is really lives in the grace of God. There is a chapel service every week on Wednesday at 12:12pm, and community project. The most recent one was build a bed project where we build beds for children in the community who don't have beds to sleep in.

Kentucky Wesleyan College is a private post-secondary college that strives to endure a higher value in their school system. The president, Barton Darrell, greets and knows everyone's name, he's a great embodiment of what the the school is. There's a variety of opportunities in this college, whether that's sports, clubs, or events that take place on and out of campus. For example, the college was able to take a few students to Holiday World for free. The most valuable aspect of this college is the amount of love and support the faculty have for the students. They truly believe in us, and I have seen that help others and myself become better students. I love my school.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I like my school. I feel safe and comfortable there. Most of the professors and great and very helpful but a couple are aloof, hard to contact and not really interested in helping students. One residence hall was recently upgraded but the others are in serious need of getting the same. I like most of the other students I am in contact with daily. There are lots of fun things to do to keep us busy. My biggest gripe is that I am an athlete and often miss class and tests due to traveling. My hardest class has a professor who will not work with me to get these made up. I have to take tests without a chance to study or review due to my busy schedule and traveling to other states for games. I do wish he would be more accomodating and at least give me a study guide so I can pass the tests. I like that the school is within an hour's drive to home and I can go home quickly or for a day on short notice. The campus is continually being remodeled, upgraded and improved which is good. Everyone is pretty nice here for the most part. Of course we do have our share of "party people" who infringe on other students lives. It would be great if these people were more "contained" and not allowed to crash or trash the rest of the students dorms. I think the school is pretty, well located and we get lots of really nice perks for just being a student here (like a free membeship to the local YMCA). They have a lot going for them and the environment is good for the most part. For a small school you probably cannot find a better place to attend. With the exception of a couple of professors, who don't seem to know how to teach so students can actually learn or co-operate to give us athletes a fighting chance to make up tests (review sheets would be nice as it is impossible to read his writing) for our hard classes. I feel like I have really grown since I have been here. Every college has its good points and bad points and KWC is awesome with its good points. I really did not want to go to this school but being given a scholarship to play sports was the selling point for my family. We are poor and my dad struggles every day trying to make ends meet. My parents are divorced (mom has been married twice since their divorce and is working on landing a 3rd husband). My mom does not help me in any way except to give advice and control everyone's life. Her controlling, self-centered personality is a major stress for me and my siblings. She has never and will never contibute in any monetary way to help us kids. Right now it is more tolerable as she is chasing a new guy to reel in for her next husband to gain HIS paycheck. There fore she has less time trying to run my life and my brother's life. I am continually seeking new scholarships to help me with my college debts but so far I've had no luck. Thanks to the athletic scholarship it will ease the pain of having to repay these students loans. I am the first one in my family to go to college. I am a sophomore at KWC. I woiuld most definitely recommend this college for students who want to feel comfortable and at home away from home. The perks far outweigh the downside of a small college.

This college is very strong in its academics. Classes are engaging and challenging intellectually. The professors are available and very helpful and supportive. The staff cares about you and want to help you succeed. However, the are many clicks, and it is very hard to fit in if you do not fit in one of these.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

It is a very nice and welcoming campus, the professors are very caring and will help you and will reach out to you if they see you are struggling; and everyone is very friendly. The class sizes are the perfect size, the student to teacher ratio is one to eleven. Kentucky Wesleyan provides a very great zoology program, with externship/internship opportunities. Kentucky Wesleyan College offers many extracurricular activities and if there is not one that interests you, you can create one. Kentucky Wesleyan College's president is absolutely awesome and amazing, he really cares about the students success and wants to see you do well. He also knows all the students on campus and if he does not he will want to get to know you, and he is very supportive too. I absolutely love this college it is the perfect fit for me! I would very much recommend this college for students looking to further there education, especially in the animal field.

My overall opinion of Kentucky Wesleyan is that it is a terrific school! The class sizes are just the perfect size for me the are small but not too small. I absolutely love the campus pretty much everyone knows everyone! The sororities are not like other schools or like in the movies. All of the girls are nice to each other and the other sororities talk to other sororities. Everyone students and faculty cares for each other and supports one another.

It's a great school for people who want a small school where you know all your professors but still get a great education. Despite the small size you still get the college experience. Kentucky Wesleyan is a great place to feel safe and be yourself. This campus despite its size does everything it can for it's students, even if they have to go out of their way.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Don't be afraid. You're going to meet so many people and experience so many new things that will stay with you the rest of your life. I know it's been rough, it looks like all of your supposed "best friends" are leaving you, but at college you're going to find friends who will be there for you know matter what. You're going to meet your best friend, your sister, at a pool table, and your life will never be the same. Don't be afraid to speak up for yourself, people will try to make you feel inferior, but your not. You're just as smart as they are, and it's ok to ask questions. That's how you learn, no one knows everything. Just work hard and you'll do well in your classes and don't be afraid of what happens. You don't know this now but you can have a social life, and do well in classes. Speak up, stand up for yourself, be yourself, and most important: Never ever be afraid.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I knew not to room with a friend from high school. It's not a good idea, not matter how close you are, because if you change from their expectations they formed from attending high school with you, they most likely won't handle it well. Also, if they're having trouble making friends on campus, but you aren't and you're not spending all of your free time with them, they will resent it. Though it's scary, it's better in the long run to try out a new roommate you didn't know before.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Probably the emphasis on fraternities and soriorities is the worst thing about KWC. Mainly, it's when these group get away with breaking the rules because of their association that's awful. The school tends to excuse their actions, especially if it looks bad on the school.
