My overall experience is very good. they have people who are willing to help you. Many freshman come to the campus more lost then you think. There are people who are willing to give tours so on the first day of class you know where your classes are. They throw a lot of activities but also focus on the school work and making sure everyone's safe and is on track academically.

I am a first-year transfer student at Norfolk State University, and although the school year was cut short, I enjoyed every moment I had there and I look forward to returning. From the moment I got on campus, all of the students and faculty were very welcoming, and that never changed during my time there. The professors really want to get to know you and they make sure you understand the information. The students make sure you aren't alone and that you are enjoying your experience. Overall, I love it and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else!

I believe Norfolk State University is a wonderful school to attend. They are getting rid of a lot of the older building and building newer ones. This school is actually starting to look like a university. My only issue is the area I wish there were more stores and restaurants around like Starbucks, Chipotle, and etc.

Norfolk State University is full of joy, excitement, love, talent, and so much more! Norfolk State encourages their students and mean well in all the things they do for us. It’s not one day that goes by that students don’t receive information on what’s happening on campus. There are many emails involving the governor coming to talk to us, voting, campus alerts, and all different kinds of activities. They provide a safe environment with our campus police and our on campus police station, as well as the security on the gates. Norfolk State is a wonderful and joyful school. I love my HBCU! 2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I could go back in time I would tell myself to try more. I have realiazed that when I truley push myself and put my mind to something I can do amazing things. Yes it requires alot of hardwork but I really love teh adrennaine rush of working hard, whether, it's serving dozens and dozens of people, working on a drawing, leading a children choir, or just exercising. When I fully put my heart and soul in a task I really come out with a masterpiece. And with that information, I could use it to motivate my past self so I could pull out the confindence that I have recently found.

  3. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

How hard it is to get out! My school has truly raised its standards since I came in. Even though I had a good enough gpa to get into almost any school of my choice, the entry requirements were a little low back then. It was really easy to get into NSU, but definitely hard to get out. The professors are really serious about your education and will truly make you work hard to earn your degree. I can say now that I truly appreciate that aspect of my alma mater.
