Over all, Old Dominion University deserves more credit than it gets. The professors are fantastic especially in the F. Ludwig Diehn's School of Music! I have continued contact with professors after I completed their classes and they have continued to be resourceful by helping me with both my school work and search for scholarships. When you are not studying for classes, you are never bored. There is plenty to do whether you are hanging out in the Webb Center, seeing a show at the on campus planetarium, visiting the art gallery, attending a sports game or concert, or taking a Lime scooter over to MacArthur Center Mall. There's a rock climbing gym inside the recreation building that students have full access too. You can never go hungry on campus. As a commuter, I have never been to the official dining halls, but I have been told good things about it. The Webb Center has plenty of fast food options such as Chick-fil-a, Qdoba, Steak and Steak, Pizza Hut, a sushi place, and a fresh smoothie shop. There are also students stores and what we call a 'Pod' where you can buy all sorts of snacks as well as basic supplies for classes. If you walk across Hampton Blvd to the other side of campus, you will stumble along Monarch Way where your meal options are increased even more. They recently opened a Panera Bread that now joins multiple breakfast and sandwich shops. My personal favorite on that street is the Tropical Smoothie. To those who are considering Old Dominion University I can honestly say that it is worth becoming a Monarch! Between great academic and art programs, amazing professors, and an abundance of scholarships, it is definitely worth your time to attend!

I feel that Old Dominion is a good school but very challenging. I do have to say the classes here are harder compared to other schools. They are hard to pass, most professors expect you to remember everything. I don't like that a lot of tests here aren't multiple choice or have word banks. You have to remember exactly each and every detail. Everyone that I know including myself find that very hard. Most of my friends I did have here have left Old Dominion University. But, I don't want to make it seem like it's a bad school it's just really hard for no reason at all . They make you take a lot of classes that you don't even need for your future career.

As a freshman I've enjoyed my experience at Old Dominion and would recommend the institution to others as well. There's many resources for students to acquire aid for a multitude of needs and the student advisors are particularly active in making sure students have the accessibility to get help for all their needs.

I am a third year at Old Dominion University. I have only ever commuted to college. When I was a freshman my schedule was to attend ODU every Tuesday and Thursday from 8 am till 5 am. The following year, I started to take online classes, which were good, but very challenging to get used to. I carpooled with a friend which helped a lot with money. ODU is a good school, but if I was an on campus student I would love college. It is just challenging to be included in events when I live off campus.

It's beautiful at Old Dominion and there are a lot of really fun and interesting activities. They try to get students involved and are constantly having on-campus events to encourage students to step out of their comfort zone. However, the advising isn't great and the academics are more relaxed than I'm used to.

Old Dominion University is the perfect place for any student! The University is supportive of incoming freshmen, transfer students, military students (they have a whole email list for military-affiliated students!), as well as returners to the post-secondary education world. The campus is inclusive, and ODU makes a conscious effort to create dialogue among a variety of demographic and special interest groups. For example, the Office of Educational Accessibility has great resources for students transitioning from their high school setting, where they perhaps had an IEP or 504 plan, to college. The athletics program is on the rise at ODU as well! The brand new Ballard Stadium was just built, and the stands are always roaring with cheers from fans. The athletics program also has great resources for student athletes, such as peer tutors and mentors. The University has recently added several new dining halls and residence halls to accommodate for the increase in enrollment. Overall, I would recommend ODU to anyone who is interested in the area, their specific programs, or a solid college experience. They have a variety of majors and programs, and the academic advisors have been incredibly helpful from my experience. You can't really go wrong being a Monarch!

Academically and socially ODU is the place to be. The people are some what nice same with the professors. The biggest problem ODU has is money. They have money to give and don't give it which leaves kids who really need it in the dust and that is not fair.
