We Asked Students, What's your overall opinion of this school?

Natalia

The campus is a bit outdated but the professors are extremely helpful with anything they can. Their office hours are easily accessible in the syllabus and their office usually isn't too far from the classroom. The labs are sometimes lengthy but the professors manage the class time effectively to get the most done in one day. The parking lot can be a bit creepy at night because its pretty empty but there are lights always on. The price of the classes is exceptionally low compared to other universities or colleges. It definitely is getting the most out of your money.

Sabrina

Overall, Southwest Texas Junior College is a great school with many faculty and staff willing to help those in need. There are many opportunities given, one just needs to reach for them. I recommend SWTJC for anyone who wishes to receive their basics or their associates degree.

Guillermo

Southwest Texas Junior College is an outstanding school. The professors and counselors are always there to help and advise us what choices are best in the best interest for us. The classes are not to big so, the professors have more time to work with us individually and ensure we understand the lessons. The people are very friendly, it's easy to meet new people and find study partners. In overall the college is great and I couldn't find a way to make it better.

Irma

SWTJC is a college that is close to home with its many varying locations, which makes it very comfortable for first time college students. The staff and faculty are very friendly, understanding, and are always willing to help out students who are in need. At SWTJC, students are also able to find work-studies at different times of the day, which is a huge stress reliever. SWTJC also offers a sister-college credit transfer and is also a top school in transferring credits from one college to a high university or college learning. Overall, SWTJC is a highly functional school that makes college a fun, safe and comfortable experience for its students. So, if you are undecided about what college you should attend, you should take SWTJC into consideration.

Located in the small town of Eagle Pass, TX you can find SWJC. This local community college, while small, still has great benefits. It is cheap and you do get a taste of what college is really like. Most of the people that attend this college have lived in Eagle Pass (or surrounding small communities) live at home or with a family member. Although we do not have the perks of being universities (housing, sororities/fraternities, activists groups) this is still a great place as a starter college, temporary college, or as a college you should try if you are unsure about taking "the college path," as you won't spend about $24,000 at a major university just to find out you don't like school.

Janessa

It’s a decent school for an associates degree

Sophie

I have absolutely loved studying here at SWTJC! The staff is excellent, the campus is beautiful, and student life is so much fun! We learn and experience together. This genuinely is a great place to start out or get your associates degree. I highly recommend!

"Oh, you're going to Southwest? Did you not get accepted into any universities?" That's the reaction most students from Eagle Pass, Texas receive when sharing the school they will be attending after high school graduation. Society has this belief that a community college education is less valuable than a university education. What they do not realize is how much an amazing school Southwest Texas Junior College really is! Coming from a current student of SWTJC, there are a tremendous amount of advantages this college has to offer. The tutors are remarkable and go out of their way every time to help you excel in your classes. The professors are always available to assist you in any way with their assignments. Overall I would recommend this college to any one and it is great for getting the hang of the college life to any college freshman before heading off to a big university.

Cynthia

It is a well established community college. The facilities and extracurricular activities are improving each year. It is a great opporunity. The school is fairly new and is growing more and more each year. The teachers are there for you and very helpful.

Cristian

This accredited college is very small, but is filled with a lot of friendly students who strive to success. It is lacking campus activities and greek life which I feel is a very important aspect of college that needs to be experienced. However, it does provide students with excellent education to help them pursue higher level degrees.

Gabriela

I love Southwest Texas Junior College, I am a proud student. The teachers and faculty always have a smile and are extremely helpful. The class size is small, which is perfect for me, I learn better in small classes. There is an abundance of classes offered here. There are resources always available at any time. They honestly serve pretty good food. The weight room, gym, pool, and game room are very nice. The only thing that I would renovate is the dorms, they need a little help.

I love SWTJC and all of the professors I’ve had. I’ve also met some great people. I’m attending college after being out of high school for over 15 years. I was very worried, especially about college algebra but the professor was amazing and got me through it. SWTJC also has employment opportunities for students. I’ve been blessed to be a part of SWTJC

Angelie

I have experienced some great teachers from Southwest, but there are some teachers who do not care about the students and will not put the effort to help them succeed fully. Those teachers will have you forced to teach yourself the information, as well as leaving you to figure out yourself. They will not reach out or answer emails and have you feeling dumb for asking a question.
