This school gave me the best graduate school experience with excellent caring staffs and faculties. The campus size is appropriate with necessary hands on clinical experiences that correlate with the lectures. In and Off campus dorms are also very nice.
UT Health Science Center at Houston is a school that is well known, not just in Texas, but around the country. There you can find professors who are the best in their fields and who make time for their students. It a warm place and I would recommend it to anyone!
The Cizik School of Nursing at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (yes, that's the official name) is very functional. While there is a recreation center, there is no greek life, there aren't many organizations (mostly healthcare organizations), and social events are very limited.
While the school seems very dry, you have to understand that the school's primary focus is on educating the next generation healthcare workers and makes up for the lack of activities with it's low tuition ($15,000 to earn you Bachelor's) and amazing professors.
The Pacesetter nursing program, is fast paced and completed within 15 months and there is roughly 130 students. By the time you finish this program, you'll know almost everyone. The program requires a lot of sacrifice, which causes a decrease in sleep and free time.
Since the school is in the Medical Center, parking is a pain and once 3:00 pm hits, you'll probably stuck in traffic. Unfortunately, some of the classes ends at 5:00 pm.
Overall I really do love this program. I could alway rely on the peers for help and the professors were more than willing to help. If you want to graduate early, save money, and are willing to put in the time and work, this program is for you.
Learning extends beyond the classroom into the community. The professors are engaged with the students and with the advancement in our respective fields. The student organizations are very inclusive to all campuses. The school provided students with the momentum to create significant positive change. I would recommend this school and program to any student interested in public health.
