I have really enjoyed attending Cornerstone University so far, and look forward to continuing to attend. Overall, I'd say it's been pretty great. I feel like I've grown intellectually and as a person in general. The only thing that's not the best is that they serve too much chicken in the cafeteria.

I really enjoy Cornerstone University. The people there are fantastic, you don't get pressured into doing things that you don't want to do, and people there genuinely care. The class sizes are great and the course work is a good amount. This was definitely the right college for me.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Cornerstone University is home to almost 2,000 students during the fall/spring semester. Cornerstone has wonderful opportunities to be in clubs, sports teams, and even studying abroad. Due to the small population of Cornerstone, students are closer together like a family. The University features an inspiring chapel with beautiful stained glass windows. Chapel is every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. We gather there to worship our God and Savior, which also brings life to the Cornerstone University campus. Cornerstone's education has lifted every single student up to society's expectation, making Cornerstone University a great place to be.

Cornerstone is a very open and welcome campus. There are always smiles to be shared and everyone is understanding. There is always an ear to listen and advice to be given. I often call Cornerstone my second home because it is, and everyone there is my family.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

My overall opinion of Cornerstone University is that it is a community that fosters growth both academically and spiritually in students. I am proud to attend Cornerstone and I am thankful for the education that I am receiving. Although Cornerstone is not perfect and is sometimes bogged down by needless rules, I feel as though this school is a place where I can thrive. I look forward to continuing to grow both academically and spiritually over my next two years there.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Cornerstone University is an incredibly safe campus with a deeply Christian core. Here, I am able to not only learn and pursue a degree, but grow my faith as well. The opportunities Cornerstone provides are vast, ranging from available professors, to internship opportunities, study abroad options, and a wide network of post college jobs. The campus is fun and clean, there's always students around who are willing to help answer any questions. Both students and faculty are friendly and kind, making campus a great place to live and continue to grow in a relationship with Christ. Though the food may not be the best, and we have our fair share of maintenance problems in the dorms, the nonexistent crime rate and ability to leave a laptop in a common area for hours on end without a worry makes well makes up for any problems. Overall, Cornerstone has some of the nicest people I have ever met, great chapel services and academics, and a truly Christ-centered education that delivers exactly what they promise in their motto, a life that matters.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

The thought of college can be very scary. I know my senior year of highschool, I was very nervous for that process to start happening. I watched my mom drive away after drop off day, and I knew I was by myself here. Determination was flowing through me at the time. I was ready to conquer these next four years. I soon realized that I had a lot to do in these next four years; that realization started to weigh me down. Looking at my college career all together was a strategy that was not woking. This is one peice of advice i would give myself: take one day at a time. Dont look at every class and credit you need to take over a span of 4 years. Plan your day, go out with determination, and finish everything for that day. Setting smaller goals helps to keep me on track, and working towards a realistic accomplishment. Don't overwhelm yourself, but instead encourage yourself by accomplishing what you set out to do each and everyday.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

The process of moving away from home and attending college can be a challenge. I wish I would of known that I was going to be living with two girls, instead of one. This was a big surprise on the first day! The last minute roommate situation was something that caught me off guard.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing about my school is that it is so small; therefore, it impacts the way classes are set up. Some classes are only offered at certain times, and it's a rush to get into that particular class when it is offered. That can be stressful when trying to get all your credits fulled.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

My advice to me back in time, would be pretty simple. Don't stress so much about where you are going to college, if it is truly terrible you can always transfer. Be yourself when you get to college, don't worry about what other peole think and find the friends who will be there for you and who you enjoy being around the most. Use college to help guide and figure out what you want in life and feel free to be somewhat selfish. In regards to athletics, start lifiting because everyone is bigger, faster and stronger and get in shape!

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Since Cornerstone is so close to a bigger city like Grand Rapids, many students are commuters and so it is fairly quiet on the weekends. However, at the same time there is ton to do in Grand Rapids so you dont have to stay on campus to have fun.

What kind of person should not attend this school?

Someone that wants to just party, get laid and not go to class.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Hey senior self! You are about to go to college, congratulations! When you get there, it is going to be intimidating and you might even feel a little uncomfortable- that's okay. College is an intimidating place- living with a bunch of people you don't know, having more homework than you're used to, and for you especially, you have to handle playing soccer at the same time. Concerning dorm life, don't be afraid to leave your door open when you're in your room and to venture into other open rooms; it will really help you make friends quicker than you might expect. Concerning academics, do what you have always done. Be diligent, do your work well, and ask questions. It might be scary asking questions in a big class, but don't be afraid to put yourself out there. It will be worth it. And concerning soccer, it is your job as a teammate to make your teammates better and the team as a whole better. Be the best teammate you can be and be the best example you can be. Have fun, and remember to do everything you do for God's glory.

What's unique about your campus?

One of the best things about Cornerstone Univeristy is the professors. They actually care about the students and want them to do well. The more the student puts in, the more they will get back from the professors. Professors here love having relationships with students and are always willing to grab lunch or a coffee if you ever want to meet to talk about classwork or just get to know them.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing I consider about Cornerstone is that since many people who go here live within 30 or so minutes from the campus, many of them go home over the weekend and there aren't many people around. Weeknights are always a blast, though, and the quiet weekends are good for resting and catching up on homework.
