What is your overall opinion of this school?

George Mason is one of the least intimidating colleges in Virginia; however, that's what makes it a really comfortable school to be at. To elaborate, it only requires a slightly above average GPA to get in the college. Greek life here is not huge, meaning that there isn't pressure on students to solely rely on them for activities and parties. The student body, although a bit quiet and not engaging at first glance, is still very fun and some of the most polite people I've met. Lastly, there are tons of opportunities here for growth and experience. Being in north Virginia, many companies hire students as interns during the many career fairs that take place, giving you a greater chance to being hired and employed after graduating. To take away from the university: The WiFi system is very annoying and is not always reliable, construction is always taking place on campus, there is no football team (though, there is a good amount of support for our basketball team), dining hall food is not that great with a lack of variety between days, and it's hard to receive decent help when dealing with financial/academic aid at times. Overall, the school has a really good focus on academics and the community events on campus also nurture to student needs. It has downsides like all colleges, but I think George Mason is doing a decent job. I would give the college itself a 4/5 rating based on my experience.

I really enjoy the people that make Mason what it is. You'll never find a more accepting and involved school outside of the classroom. The students there as so easy to talk to and will actively engage in a meaningful conversation. The staff treats all of their students with respect and make sure to respond back to them in a reasonable amount of time. The close proximity to Washington D.C. allows those who choose Mason to be a 15-minute ride away from our nation's capital, offering a wild night scene, amazing food, and memorable sites that make the perfect weekend getaway after a rigorous week of classes. I could not have chosen a better school for a vibrant, bubbly, fun-loving person like me! :)

I absolutely love that George Mason University is very diverse in culture and ethnicity. So many different walks of life are at this college including in the surrounding areas (counties and cities). The academic programs are stellar as well as the interactions with teachers and peers. I would recommend this university to my peers and those I mentor!

What is your overall opinion of this school?

George Mason is a nice enough college, and for some like myself it was a guarantee that I'd get in. However if you're extremely quiet and shy it'll be hard to make friends as many activities are based on you talking and introducing yourself to other people. The food is decent and most of the professors you'll have are nice. BUT it does flood easily and communication between the school itself and its faculty/students is sometimes lacking

I fell inlove with the campus and the school. It was my perfect fit. I believe that anyone who has a chance to visit this campus does so, because the experience is unforgettable and the way it impacted me, can impact someone else just the same. It really motivated me to push myself and to apply.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I enjoy going to GMU because it is the perfect in-between school. While it has plenty of opportunities to get involved and get the college experience, it also allows students to have their own life outside of school. The location is great because it is easy to get to D.C. as well.

George Mason is a wonderful school and it is one of my top choices for college in the future. The campus is beautiful and it has a lot of diversity here. They offer many different courses based on what you want to do in the future. They also offer many different study abroad opportunities which is great for people wanting to expand their travel experience and knowledge.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

There's absolutely no shortage of clubs, an incredible diversity of activities to do, and plenty of opportunities. If you have an interest, you can get involved and be a part of something. However, since it is a pretty massive school, no one is going to twist your arm, or force you. George Mason is generally oriented towards graduate students, especially people who commute from DC. Most of the professors are okay, excepting a few and in particular majors, there just happen to be a conglomeration of poor teachers (such as Chemistry) so I'd be particular about what major I'd pick. I didn't have a professor in my major until my third semester because all of the professors are so involved with research. You can skirt by classes and not learn anything, or you can put in the extra mile, but that extra mile is placed on you. It's a very diverse campus and most everyone is extremely open minded and supportive. For example, drugs/party life is a thing, but I have no interest in it and I've never felt pressured to join in it. The bottom line is that no one will interact with you first, but if you put yourself out there, you'll have a great time and learn a lot.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Life at George Mason University was a pleasant surprise. As a student who did minimal research, I didn't have a lot of foreknowledge on the campus' community. From my personal experiences, everyone is kind and open-minded to the diversity. This includes ethnicities, nationalities, genders, sexualities, and so on. Walking around campus feels as safe as can be, my only worry seems to be getting lost. As it is a huge campus and I have a terrible sense of direction. Still, people are always willing to help out.
