Lees-McRae College is a fun campus and area to be around. Located in Banner Elk, NC between two ski slopes and thirty minutes above Boone, you can always find something to do even if it involves driving there. Build in 1900, the campus is full of history and it's reflected everywhere. The scenery is perfect, fall being the best time since the mountains surround campus. Professors are always around if you need help, you can contact them if you need help or they will point you to someone who can. It's a lovely school with a great environment.
Lee's-McRae was my first choice in colleges, it has beautiful scenery, small class sizes, AND I can bring my pet. If you come here for art there's so much inspiration, and if your comming here for wildlife there is plenty of it. The dorms are beautiful brick buildings and so are the class rooms. Just remember bring a sweater!
My overall opinion is that its a nice campus and a great school but they could work on updating the dorm buildings and having a kitchen in them. They could also work on getting air conditioning into the dorm rooms because it can get really hot during the warm seasons.
I absolutely love the school, the setting of the school is the most beautiful in the east part of the united states I believe. The adventures around the school make is unique. Plenty of mountains and ski slopes, trails, hiking spots, Lees-McRae is just an outdoor adventure school. The on-campus living buildings could use moderation, they are very out-dated. The classrooms are starting to become nicer, and the academics is great but could use some work. The professors are always there to help you and push you to your best, but they lack on organizational skills.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Lees-McRae College is 63%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
I would tell myself to pick one school and stick with it. Make sure you do plenty of research and go to a four year university right out of high school. Being twenty two years old and seeing all of your friends graduating, while you still have many years of school left, is pretty upsetting.
My classmates are great!!!! We all work together and help each other out. When someone becomes discouraged, we all pitch in to help them feel better. They are Great!
Lees-McRae is small, the walks to class are not very long.
I don't brag about anything. I am displeased with this school and am transferring to another school in the fall.
It is a presbyterian founded college that stresses racial, religious, sexual and personal diversity. They don't ram things down your throat. They ecourage you to explore instead. I like our new motto "Dream, Dare, Achieve."
That playing a varisty sport would over take your life while in season.
Meal plan and food are horrible.
Our school is best known for its athletics.
Everyone here is really nice even the professors, you see almost everyone everyday because the school is so small, also the view is amazing.
If you are a party person and not ready to commit to a field of study you may want to wait until you decide.
Even though, Lees McRae College assists online students with a generous tuition grant, I still have some frustration with is the ability to cover the costs of paying for continuing my education; therefore, I am working hard at keeping my GPA high, and I am seeking scholarships to cover College expenses and to pay student loans.
