What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Visit as many colleges as you can. Pick the one that makes you feel most at home and hold the best program for you major.

What's unique about your campus?

I like how the professors know you by name and remember you long after you left their class. They do all they can to help you.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

I think the University of North Alabama has a real home town feel to it. The campus is upkept beautifully and gives a real small town feel to it. It's staff has a genuine appreciation for you as a student and the concerns or questions you have. Everyone teacher strives to make sure you comprehend the material and most make themselves accesible to you for further explanation of misunderstood concepts. The University of North Alabama is just enough like high school to make you feel at home but just enough like college to make you feel grown up.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would advise those choosing a college to make a list of what they want out of college in regards to education, campus, and staff. Then take that list and go on a road trip to those who closely match your ideal college. Remember why you are at college and don't get caught up in stress or parties. Stay true to your future and remember the campus is there for you. The staff is being paid by you. You are giving money in exchange for their knowledge and experience, so make the most of your money.

What's unique about your campus?

The campus is by far my favorite thing about this college. It is absolutely beautiful. The trees are a sight in the fall while the leaves are changing. In the spring they are lovely to look at on your way to class. The sculptures and historic buildings give a sense of wonder and mystery to the campus which I personally find appealing.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I think that i would tell people to make sure you take a tour of the school you are attending even if you take more than one tour. You should think about what you are looking for in a school. For instance, do you like a large campus or a smaller campus, do you like large classes or smaller, does the school have a major you might be interested in, and how far away from home do you want to be.

What's unique about your campus?

I think the best thing about the school is that we have smaller classes and the professors are willing to meet with you to make sure you get the help you need. We have really good school spirit and it is easy to talk to people in your classes. I also think that it is neat that we have live lions here on campus and we have a beautiful campus.

What kind of person should attend this school?

If you are a person that wants a really beautiful campus that is not too big and not too small this is for you. This school has small classes so you get extra help from your professors and there are plenty of clubs and extracurriculars on campus to keep you busy. We also have great dorms and a fitness facility so you can stay fit.

UNA is Best known for its teaching and nursing schools.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Go where you want to go not what ever is closest to home. You can only have this experience once, and you dont want to wish you had done things differently.

Be sure you have researched the surrounding area and also be a good judge of your budget. Some towns have a higher standard of living than others and it can put more strain on a student from a smaller town.

Very beautiful campus that is very localized inside of a historic community.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Travel to any place that sounds interesting and learn about the education programs at schools in that area, traveling and learning around people that are from different backgrounds in life is just as important as memorizing the information mandatory to be useful inside of your occupation.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Foreign exchange program lacks in getting the students to get outside of their subculture inside of UNA and communicate with americans, which in my opinion defeats the purpose of having a foreign exchange student program.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

First of all, no matter which college is chosen, take the first semester to kind of get your feet wet. Don't get too involved right off the bat, because it can get easy to lose focus. Once you get disciplined, and have good time management, then get involved in everything you possibly handle. What you put into college is what you will get out of it. Be social, and go out and have a good time when the chance arises, But remember that college is being payed for from somewhere, so always go to class and do your best in everything and great rewards will come.

What's unique about your campus?

The school spirit at UNA is great. There are many people who are involved in the community and on campus. The football games are a great experience, especially with all the passionate, screaming fans.
