Looking at Viterbo as a whole I am extremely excited to attend there for my 2018 fall semester. I have visited numerous times for several different reasons and every time I have left impressed. This is the kind of school I can easily see myself pursuing my master's degree in accounting through. Especially with the 4+1 program that they offer through the business department.

The campus is beautiful, there is not much of a walk from class to the dorms. Everyone on my floor is really close and we all enjoy each others company. Everyone says hi to one another as you are walking on the sidewalks. Most people are friendly.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I very much enjoy being a student at Viterbo University. From the multiple thriving Fine Arts programs, to the fabulous science programs, Viterbo has got it all. What I really enjoy is that the five core Viterbo values are being lived out everyday (service, hospitality, integrity, contemplation, and stewardship). A visitor on campus will release how nice everyone is, and how it is a very warm and welcoming environment, no matter the path that you choose to pursue. Being a part of athletics, I am very familiar with all the facilities that Viterbo has, and being a smaller school, they are very nice. The professors truly want you to succeed. They give you all the means to achieve success, you just have to go and do it. Email responses are very prompt, and they are very welcoming to be on the phone or come back to school to explain something. Overall, I have really enjoyed my first semester so far at Viterbo, and I can't wait to see what the future may hold.

I call it my second home; warm inviting atmosphere of a very small town. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. Because of a small campus you get to know everyone, and everyone looks out and cares for everyone.

As a transfer student, I came to Viterbo University hoping for more than I was offered by my previous university. As a place of higher learning, I wanted Viterbo to give me the opportunities and the support I needed in order to achieve the level of education for which I am looking. As a place a place of residence for the larger portion of my next three years, I wanted Viterbo to grant me safety and promote health. By the second week, I was blown away by just how much I was receiving from Viterbo. For anyone who is serious about education and becoming the best citizen they can be, look no further than Viterbo University.

Describe your favorite campus traditions.

Viterbo University is best known for its nursing program. The program here is highly selective and the coursework is challenging. That being said, graduates are highly regarded in the community. Its alliance with Mayo Health is a good opportunity to have for future job candidates. The students here have to be able to be competitive and work hard, but the rewards are worth it.

What's unique about your campus?

This school has small class sizes, which allows you to really get personalized attention. Professors almost always know every student in a class by name, so you gain a real familiarity with them and a good comfort level. It's really easy to feel comfortable enough to ask questions and get help from professors as well as fellow students. The small sizes allow for you to get to know your classmates and easily make personal connections, in addition to easy formation of study groups. You will feel welcome here by every one you meet.

Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.

Viterbo University is a small private college that was founded on 5 core values (integrity, service, contemplation, stewardship, and hospitality) and whose primary academic focus is in the areas of nursing, music, and theater performance.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would inform myself of the career path I will go into as well as the demanding workload required for college classes. After graduating high school, I started off my college experience at a different University where I bounced around with different majors not sure of what I wanted to do. I finally decided to go into nursing but unfortuatnely, going into nursing required me to transfer to a different university since my previous university did not offer a nursing major. If I could go back in time, I would tell my high school senior self that I will end up going to Viterbo University and pursing a nursing career, which in turn will help me save two years of wasted time and money. In addition, I would inform my high school senior self of the rigourous workload that comes with taking college classes. In order to be successful in college, you need to be organized and take the valuable time to read all of the material in the textbook. By being organized, not procrastinating (very difficult thing to accomplish), and communicating with your professors outside of class, you will give yourself the best chance to succeed in college.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

I would consider the worst thing about my school to be that it occasionally struggles with gossip and people creating drama over minor things. Due to Viterbo being a small school with a high population of female students and theater students, I feel that there is a high prevelance of drama that occurs at my school. At times, it can get out of hand which kind of reminds me of being in high school again.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would tell myself to work hard but also to take time to be with friends and find time to relax. I would also tell myself that it is okay to not be perfect at everything that I do and that it is not a bad thing to say no to taking on too much responsibility. It is also a good thing to learn to prioritize things in order to keep a balance in life.

What's unique about your campus?

I feel that the best thing about my school is the interesting classes and amazing teachers. The professors are excellent at teaching and are able to engage their students. The classes also make going to class enjoyable and fun.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The most frustrating thing about my school is that there are very few clubs or organizations to be a part of. There are many in terms of clubs according to one's major. But there are not many beyond that.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would tell me high school senior self not to stress out so much. Grades are important yes but you need to have fun and relax! You can’t enjoy college or your life if you’re stressing so much. Take advantage of opportunities and be proud of what has happened to you so far. Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable either, you’re great when you’re real and honest with people. People will respect you and you don’t need to worry about these popular people ever again. They don’t define who you are and they never will! Go far and achieve your dreams! Please enjoy and be grateful for what you have in your life, and make changes. Not big major life changes, but little changes. Take little steps and move forward as best you can. You matter, remember that. Go out there and make a difference.
