What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Relax, take your time and don't apply too late. visit the college before you make any decision at all if you want to go there. For manking the most out of your college experience i reccommend getting to know your professors, getting involved in campus activities such as SGA, or a fraternity/sorority and doing intramural sports is a great way to meet people and stay in shape.

What's unique about your campus?

the best thing about our school is going to the basketball games and cheering with all the other students i go to school with and doing fraternity events with my brothers on the weekends.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing about our school is that there aren't enough rooms for new and upcoming students to live in so we have to cram too many people in bedrooms built for less than said amount of people. ie. 3 people in a 2 person room.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

1. do not go to a school that your friends are going to. make sure its something you really want to do. 2.research very possible school, there are sooo many out there. make a list of things that you want out of your college experience and make sure that school has them all. 3. talk to the kids at that school and find out what their views of the school are. the tour guides are going to give you a fake answer. 4. visit on the weekend also to see what the school is like. a lot of schools the kids all leave come friday. 5. ask how many students transfer after their freshmen year. this will give you a good idea of how the kids are adapting and liking the school.

What's unique about your campus?

the best thing about wingate university is our international program offered to juniors. it allows you to travel somewhere of your choice at a very very low cost. at most other school you would not have this opportunity.

What's unique about your campus?

The thing I consider the best about my school is the fact that the classes are so small. In my school you are not just another number; you get one on one assistance from the professor if needed. It makes the learning environment better.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Choosing a college that suits you best can be a very hard thing to do, but the best thing you can do is research each of your college selections thoroughly and make sure it meets all of your wants and needs. Every college has something different to offer and it's important to find the qualities that are most important to you. Campus tours often give students an inside look at classrooms and dining areas and gives them a chance to actually see the new things they will be able to try and the new people they will meet. This helps students embrace the oppurtunities and experiences that they will have once they are in a college setting. Actually being on the campus and seeing how things look and getting a feel for the types of people there will ultimately help you decide if this is the perfect college for you.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish that I had known that there wasn't that much to do on campus on Saturdays and Sundays. During the week there are all kinds of activities and events but there isn't much to do on the weekends because most of the campus goes home for the weekend, leaving less than half of the students on campus.

What kind of person should attend this school?

If you like small schools with small classrooms and lots of friendly people then Wingate University is the perfect school for you. There are tons of events that get you culturally, politically, and socially involved. Everything is within walking distance and all academic resources are easily accessable. It's like a small community with close friends and faculty and staff that care about and socialize with their students. If you're looking to make lifetime friends and culturally enrich your life then Wingate University is the perfect college for you.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

It is very simple. nobody knows at eighteen years old what they want in life, who they are, or where they will be in four years. the solution to picking the right college is to visit them and see which atmosphere feels most comfortable. truthfully tho there is no real wrong decision. for the majority of college students class room size and appartment living pale in comparison to the friends you make and the experiences you will have. those can and will happen anywhere

What kind of person should attend this school?

athletes should consider this school strongly, over one third of the student body is made up of athletes, male and female. it also helps to come from a family to has the financial meens to help you succeed at a univeristy which will cost over 30,000 dollars a year. People who are focused on college for the right reasons and are genuinley interested in exploring new opportunities and avenues for success will enjoy this school.

What kind of person should not attend this school?

anybody looking to go wild in college should go elsewhere. It is a dry campus, thus you will not find many rave parties here. To a certain extent this school is an extension of highschool. small classrooms and a student body under two thousand people creates a very small sheltered environment. This is also a baptist university and although the school is very open to different beliefs and tolerant of other religions (liberal arts school come on) it is still a traditional southern univeristy.
