If you are looking for a college that has small class sizes, professors that can become your friends and a campus that has a family-like atmosphere, then WLC is the place to be. Class sizes, at least for science classes, usually have about 20 students. The small class size provides plenty of one-on-one time with your professor if you need help. Along with this, each class has a designated tutor who is free to utilize and is strongly encouraged that you do utilize them (even if you are a 4.0 student). But the best part of the campus is the family-like atmosphere. The inviting nature of the campus, along with the small student body causes the campus to feel like a family. It is quite common for students to build long-lasting friendships, no only with other students, but the faculty because they are truly at WLC for the benefit of the students.

Wisconsin Lutheran College feels like home from the moment one takes foot on campus. WLC is a beautiful campus, not too big, yet, not too small. Located close to downtown Milwaukee, this is much to do both on campus and off campus. The dorms are phenomenal, offering large rooms for the freshmen, while upgrading to an apartment look and feel starting sophomore year. The professors show their care in everything they do, offering many available office hours. The small classes allow for students to understand their material, whether it is a gen-ed or geared specifically for a major. In addition, there is a perfect balance between class work, sports, recreational activities, music, and drama. Plus, WLC makes college life interesting by providing activities such as free hot-dog days once a month, bingo nights that offer great prizes, free food from restaurants every Tuesday, days off campus such as movies and Bucks games, and numerous clubs. Lastly, Wisconsin Lutheran College lives up to its Christian perspective, putting Christ first in everything they do. 20 minute chapels are offered every day, and Bible studies are constantly offered. Wisconsin Lutheran College is a beautiful campus with many opportunities, but most importantly, it puts Christ as the main priority in a student's life.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Through my college experience I found myself. I entered school knowing that I wanted to be a teacher, but it was at WLC that I found my passion. My passion is urban education. Wisconsin Lutheran College is one of the only schools to offer this as a major and now as a graduate degree. I had a very insightful professor who saw gifts and talenets in me and led me into the world of this type of educating. I have now been teaching for 3 years in an urban setting and I could not be more happy. It is because of the kind and caring professors and the great education I received that I turned out to be the person I am today. I owe my happiness to Wisconsin Lutheran College and their caring professors.

  3. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I had known that there was and is potential for excelence that is readily available inside me. I must simply find the will to tap into it and achieve my potential. In highschool, I knew i was smart; however, I used my ability to skate by at the last moment. When I made the move to WLC, I was "pushed" to dig deeper in order to succeed. Instead of working to succeed, I strove for excellence. After a few semesters of "striving", I achieved 4.0 GPA. I wish I had known that a long time ago.

  8. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The most fustrating thing about Wisconsin Lutheran College is the cost of everything. Tuttion and housing is enough, but then add the meal plan. Which makes no sense sometimes. That is not all add books and sometimes you reach your breaking point, but this is where I want to be so I take out loans and financial aid helps a lot. Financial aid knocks tuttion and housing in half, but the meal plan is rediculous.

The thing that makes this campus unique and my top choice, was being that this school is very small and a private Christian college, the staff, students and the entire feel of the campus is supportive, friendly and so encouraging and helpful. It is the one thing that drew me in. Especially among the students, there is no stereotypes or segregation anyone, everyone is easy to make friends with. It really feels like everyone on campus wants the students to succeed and is always there to do whatever they can to help.
