Finlandia University has allowed me the chance to experience a different culture. I've had the opportunity to grow, mature and learn more about myself. The people/ staff here at Finlandia make it easy to fit in and are among some of the nicest people I've ever met.
It is a great school academically but the area does not have a whole lot of places as a college student you can go unless you like to party on the weekends. Sports at Finlandia are great, even though not all teams are good. I wish they had more places where students can work and ear more pay. Also the cafeteria should be open 4 times a day and there should be more food options.
I'm an older student coming to University for the first time and this is definitely the place for me. The professors are on your level, the class schedules are flexible and there are many different kinds of courses to suit a various amount of interests. If you're expecting Ivy League facilities then your in the wrong place. You'll get tight knit community, no bullshit, down to earth TLC from this U.P. School.
Finlandia is the perfect get away from home its shows character and gives people opportunity to be their selves. We are a family that loves to go to events and have fun with one another. the classes are even better especially when we are on top and enjoying the class. The food around the campus is great and the stores around campus is great also. Finlandia has a great environment which it is easy to get along with other in the school community.

College is full of new experiences. There are lessons inside the classroom and out. If I could go back and give myself advice I would tell myself that every assignment and project is something you can learn from. I think many times as a freshmen in college, students think that their work does not matter. This could not be further from the truth. Even if your classes do not directly pertain to your major you can still learn from them! In order to get the most out of classes you should go in with an open mind and an eager spirit. Do not wait until your senior year to start learning from your professors! I would also stress that you should always push yourself to get out there and live every experience. Joining clubs is a great way of making friends and getting you out of your comfort zone. It?s easy to get rapped up in just going to class and doing homework. College is full of new people and new experiences. Going to class is only half of what school has to offer. It's very important to enrich your life with others who are different from yourself.
Finlandia University is the only private University in the upper peninsula of Michigan. It is known for it's Art and Design program.
This school is a small, private university which provides a tight-knit community in a small town in Michigan's beautiful Keweenaw Peninsula.
My classmates are usually funny, friendly, and helpful but overall they are all very diverse; basically when it comes down to it, they are mostly typical college students.
Finlandia University is a small, private college. The small class size allows you to have a personal relationship with your professors and the classroom environment is comfortable.
The worst thing about my school right now is the fact that they are raising the price of tuition, lowering the amount of financial aid, and dropping a lot of classes. This is largely due to budget cuts but it makes it difficult to get classes and finish on time.
I am most proud of my school for providing so many oppertunities for its art students. I am only a freshman and I have already participated in a traveling exhibition, worked in a gallery, and met many working artists. In my sophomore year I will be given my own studio space which is very exciting. Finlandia's class sizes are very small which gives the classroom a personal feel and allows the professors to teach their students more efficiently. My school also provides many scholarship oppertunites which is essential to a private school.
I love the small classes and the availability of the professors. The professors are always there to help whenever needed.
Before I came to this school, I wish that I would have known how important it was to apply for as many scholarships as possible. I did get several scholarships, but the cost of my tuition was not covered, so I wish I would have applied for more or tried to get more financial aid. I also wish I would have saved up more money the summer before I started college, or that I would have worked more hours at my job.
The kind of person that should not attend is someone looking for a lot of activities on the weekend.
