Honestly wish I'd strayed out here. Classes are much smaller so you actually know your professors and they can break things down to you on a more personal level. They really try to be advocates for you as well when it comes to transfer credits ! Over all I love this place and for me to get the same education at a fraction of the cost is great.
As a community college, Gaston is a great place to get your education at an affordable and accessible rate. This is my first year at Gaston college and thus far I’ve really learned to love the rural and southern comfort environment that Gaston has to offer. I was attracted to this school because of their Nursing program which is built with kind and supportive staff that push you to your limits. The feeling of family/friendship within the nursing program becomes prominent as the semester goes on due to the high drop rate that is typically associated within this type of degree. Do keep in mind that this particular program consumes a lot of students time, however some students do manage to balance work and nursing. Personally, I was only able to work the first semester and then I had to quit my job to finish my second semester and be able to pass. Professors in the nursing department are good but many times expect you to be able to learn on your own and the lectures are mainly to supplement your learning. In regards to the application process for their nursing program, they require students to take the TEAS test (nursing entrance exam) with a minimum score of 65 and all the required pre-requisites in the areas of math, science, and literature completed. Gaston offers their students access to the library on campus as well as the gym which are both nice facilities. Campus life is calm and is a very safe place to learn, this is highly due to the size of campus being small compared to community colleges in cities such as the schools closer to Charlotte, NC. If you are a student looking to obtain an education at an affordable price or if you are someone looking at a nursing program around a calm and safe area, I certainly recommend Gaston College in Dallas, NC.
It's an older campus full of really helpful staff, but you have to want to succeed. We have a really low graduation rate and I always hear people complaining about the work they have to do, but if you want to succeed then apply yourself, do the course readings and make an effort to make connections with your teachers more than just in the classroom and you'll have no problem succeeding at Gaston.
I think Gaston College is a great community college. The facilities and overall cleanliness of the college is better than a lot of the colleges around the area. I would like to see Gaston get a sports program and some more extracurricular activities. Overall, I think Gaston college is a great school and I think a lot of high school seniors should consider going there first for a good education and to save money instead of going to a 4 year university immediately.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Gaston College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
If I could go back in time, I would tell myself to pay more attention in my Language Arts class. Writing papers is not my specialty. The big thing I would really like to tell myself is not to be so shy. I didn't have very many friends in high school because I was too afraid to approach people. I always stood behind my younger brother because he is the outgoing one. However, going out on my own, I didn't have him as a crutch anymore. The first day of college I got asked to join a study group. I was able to open up and found that people do like me. I don't have to be afraid. It's really help me come out of my shell.
I think people who aren't focused and ready to make something of themselves should not attend the school. People who are afraid of life and want to keep partying should maybe go to a four year school and grow out of that. A community college would not be the place for them.
I'm going to classes at night right now, so some are older than me and some are close to my age. They are all friendly and helpful.
Gaston College is known for being a very convenient, flexible, easily accessible college to attend for people of all ages.
I like the fact that the campus is small and so are the classes. You get more of the personal touch here. Also, I want to be a paramedic, and Gaston College has a program specific for that.
It is a nice community college.
Anyone interested in continuing their education and especially those looking to bring their GPA up intending on transfering to a four year college
I brag to my friends that Gaston College is full of nice, down-to-earth students and professors.
The most frustrating thing about my school is the parking situation. The parking is really bad especially the first week of school. People aren't used to the school and don't know where to park so they just be all over the place. So i end up having to park far away. Other that the parking it's actually a really nice school.
