I absolutely loved my time at Hampden-Sydney. Small classes, a close-knit brotherhood, and 240+ year-old traditions that have made me into a "Good man and good citizen". There isn't a day that goes by where I don't utilize the Rhetoric Skills that were taught and emphasized in and out of the classroom. Everywhere I go I find H-SC Alumni, and I have yet to meet an alumnus who didn't like his time on The Hill. We have competitive athletics, an active social scene, and one of the best alumni networks in the nation! Go Tigers!
It is an overall great school for someone who is looking for small class room size, small population, and accessible professors. The school is an all-male, so there's less of a distraction for males to get distracted. There's a sense of brotherhood on campus and the staff is there to help students succeed. It is an old school; it is older than the United States. There are a lot of job opportunities on campus and there a lot of internships available too. Greek life is extremely important, especially during Greek week. Hampden-Sydney is the place for you if you have no problem dealing with all males, small population, and country lifestyle.
Looking forward to preparing for life there! A very focused atmosphere. The campus is well kept. The staff is very friendly. They communicate extensively, even with soon to be students. They have an excellent entrepreneurial network as well as extensive alumni envolvement.

I have had the great opportunity to not only visit but apply and be accepted into Hampden-Sydney College.

If I could go back to high school and give advice to myself about college it would be to think outside the box. Many high school students receive the anwers before without knowing facts and analysis of such reasoning. I would love to go back to gain a significant ability to assure myself to work harder to answer the question why. Why is the question. Many students in high school cannot answers this question. Why? Students have a hard time adjusting their minds outside the norm of society. College teaches about thinking for yourself and analyzing specifics for an answer. If I had the tools such as analyzing and questioning the current, I would have been more educated on certain topics such as my Western Culture class. I had to qualify answers sometimes in Western Culture. I know if I had this experience in high school I would be better off in my future learnings at Hampden-Sydney College.
My classmates are mostly rich, racist WASPs.
My school is very supportive of everyone, no matter who you are. They also encourage growth, which is a very beeautiful thing.
The difficulty of getting learning disability assistance
Some schools talk about the good ole boy network, but we invented it.
that Hampden Sydney was ranked 50th best college in the nation by Forbes magazine.
My school is known for being full of rich, racist WASPs that drink and have sex a lot, and then go on to be financial consultants in Richmond.
The best thing about Hampden Sydney College is it's southern tradition and heritage and history. Hampden Sydney was founded in 1775 and is one of the few remaining all male schools in the nation. The college provides a small town southern atmosphere of a little over 1100 students. This allows the student body to get to know one another very well. The small student body also allows for small class sizes which enhances the learning experience.
A Middle to Upper Middle Class individual, who enjoys to socialize, enjoys doing outdoor activities, and is preppy.
A person wishing to cruise through college with little or no work should not attend Hampden Sydney College. At Hampden Sydney, students spend a large amount of time doing homework, studying, and writing papers. If a student does not spend time doing homework and studying, he will not receive sufficient grades.
Its an extremely fun school, and maintains a heavy work load. Consequently, juggeling the two can be, at times, frustrating.
