What is your overall opinion of this school?

The environment can be a bit overwhelming and stressful at times, mostly stemming from academic pressures, but there are wonderful people and a lot of unbelievable opportunities that would likely not be made available to a student at another institution.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I feel like people only accept the best of the best at Yale. It's a discrimination to me that you HAVE to have at least an 31 on your ACT. and be int he top of your classes. What about the people who feel like they can make it? I used to want to go to Yale until realized that you have to be "perfect" I am BLACK and honestly I feel that will be another thing that will stop me from being able to go to Yale. I mean no one is perfect but The Man Up Stairs. So it shouldn't matter whether you have a 19-26 or a 20-25 on your ACT. Let people strive to do better, and stop crushing their dream...........

Yale Senior

Science classes at Yale leave a lot to be desired and usually the bigger the class the worse it is (some exceptions to that rule). It boasts about high level researchers and nobel prize winners but often those are the worst teachers. Socially, there is Wednesday night Toads, frat parties on the weekends, college screws etc. Expect some people that only study and never leave the libraries and (the minority) that party four times a week.

What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?

The stereotype is of students that like to use umbrellas when it rains. I never do but then again, I'm not very popular. People seem to like to make animal noises at the end of lecture and that is true of most students here. I think Yale attracts people who like to recite poetry in the shower, as well.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

The competitive eating club is pretty popular. We try to eat as many hot dogs as possible. Of course, only the most popular students can be in this exclusive club. You have to be invited and it is a secret society that will help you throughout life, particularly if you like hot dogs.

What are the academics like at your school?

We have to study pretty hard here.

Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.

Yale is an intense school that never wants you to forget how lucky you are to be there.

Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.

Yale is an intense school that never wants you to forget how lucky you are to be there.

Describe the students at your school.

Your classmates are passionate and gifted, and you often will feel like they belong there much more than you do.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

You should be open-minded: try new cuisines, meet new people, explore more opportunities. You will learn that the things you were good at in high school may not be the things you are truly talented at in life. You will have many ups and downs as you struggle to find what you are passionate about when it comes to academics or your career. But it is important to remember that you are not defined by your grades or sorority. College will eventually end, and you will have to leave campus someday to take on the world. You will be defined by what you choose to take away from your college experience and to bring out into the world. In final words, take care of yourself--college will eventually end, but you and your life continues. Remember that through all the tough assignments or pressures to drink, and you will do just fine.
