What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
If I had an opportunity to go back in time and rewrite my life from High School to now I would change only a few small things that would have made such a big difference. First and foremost I would never procrastinate! I have learned that the more you put things off the harder it is to get caught up. As the saying goes, “Play now, pay later; or pay now, play later.” When you graduate High School you transition into adulthood and responsibility. Make a decision to do something and stick with it; never ever give up! Keep you focus and stay strong in your faith.
As an adult it is time to be responsible with finances as well. Save! Save! Save! College in an investment, no doubt, but an expensive one! In his conferences on financial freedom, Dave Ramsey always says, “Live like no one else, so you can LIVE like no one else!” No matter how you decide to pay for college it is important to have a plan. Do whatever you can to save money and be responsible with both your finances and life now, and reap the rewards later in life!

Classmates in high school were uncertain little individuals that were lost and confused in their place in the world and in school. I feel as adults and looking at the classmates in college you see more of stronger purpose and understanding of the direction they are headed and thier attitude towards school is more appreciated and acknowledged.

The community and overall unity of the school are the hallmarks that I notice most. All have come together with a strong yearning for academic excellence but also learning abuot Jesus Christ. Not all people will agree with our beliefs, but if they come they cannot help but notice our sense of joy and togetherness that creates an enviroment where we can grow in all aspects, not just academically. With this kind of community, we can truly support each other and know one another. You won't be another face, you are you.

Before I came to CCU I wish I had known how much more difficult college classes were then high school classes. I wish I had known that it takes a lot more effort and determination to get where you want to be. I took AP and Honors classes in high school, and not even those could prepare me for the work load I was about to encounter.

When I tell my friends my story, I tell them to never give up on getting an education that you are passionate about and proud of. When I was diagnosed with cancer as a college sophomore in 2004, I promised myself that it would not prevent me from getting my degree and making a difference in the world. After 6 years of active cancer treatments, I still work my hardest to have a GPA above 3.5 and learn all I can about Psychology.

I am not sure how much activities/ groups contact there will be since I am an on-line student. There is a campus life but I do not want to leave home as I am an older student with commitments to family here. I do expect class forums and other contact with the class.
Read all 1 answers What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
I really have no idea about a stereotype. They offer both campus and on-line classes. I would guess that being an older student the campus classes would be filled with motivated young people with a desire to have a biblical based learning experience as well as good preparation for their chosen field of study. The on-line may be like me, already having a career and wanting to fulfill a lifelong dream with a new career.
