Through Kaplan University's online program I would say there isn't any stereotypes. it is hard to stereotype people you cannot see or hear. This is what makes this school exciting because you don't have to worry about others grouping you into certain groups.
Kaplan University is a school of excellence. The environment of the school in which I participate is online. They strive to encourage the working force to excel through higher education by implementing this opportunity in which a great deal of Universities do not have. Especially if you are a single parent and have to work full time there is still a way for you to improve your career goals.
Online higher education can be challenging for some however, Kaplan University excels at providing the student with professors that go beyond the teaching experience. They strive to teach and guide the student in ways that they can excel in their studies. Kaplan's professors encourage students to participate and hold intellectual conversations as they learn and grow together. The academics are reasonable and geared toward helping the student's to acheive at their career goals.
One great thing about getting your degree online, is that you do not have to worry about fashion or your appearance. Most of the students that I worked with, were hard working and willing to learn from others. I have connected with many of my classmates through facebook and exchanced phone numbers. This has helped for last minute questions about assignments. I know that I can turn to these friends (classmates) and they will help me figure out the answer. We work together as a group to encourage eachother to get our work done. And as I have said before, many of my classmates have experience in the field, so I have learned a great deal from them. Overall I have found all of my classmates to be helpful and encouraging.
Students at Kaplan strive to make the President's List and Dean's List. The honors societies are also popular. There are also different clubs and others programs available to students; but I unfortunately do not have the time to participate in any of those.
Since we are an online school, sports teams aren't exactly a factor. But there are plenty of other activities to get involved in.
I have learned a lot since attending school with Kaplan. The course material is easy to comprehend and fun to learn. The professors are great about explaining everything each week.
Being a criminal Justice major it can be difficult at time to absorb all of the material. The classes at Kaplan make it very easy to read and understand all of the courses. The discussion board also helps to reiterate what is important each week in the course.
The main reason I chose this school is due to the admissions adviser. His name was Andryu and he gave me his own personal advice when I was considering what courses to take and even gave me honest research websites to use when comparing Kaplan to other schools. I was able to review other student reviews as well as financial aid reviews.
Where would you like to go to class? Your office, living room, dining room, coffee house? Kaplan Online is where ever you are! You have the ability to go to school anywhere you have an internet connection. So, take a look around you-- that is where you could go to school. Possibilites are endless.
Hmmmmm....well my dorm is my livingroom, so I would say it's pretty nice. :-)
I have only had one professor that I didnt like. All of the others have been amazing and interesting people! I love who Kaplan has chose to teach us!!
What could be more unique (or innovative) than an online campus?! It's great!
Well, I don't know how applicable some of these questions are since I attend an online university; but my favorite "campus tradition" is to snuggle up in bed with my laptop and a good cup of coffee.
Food and Dining at an online university is wherever you wish to eat. For me, it is usually a home-made meal. However, I can also take my computer to any wi-fi location such as fast food restaurants and coffee shops.
Discipline is the best skill to have at KU. The hardest part about doing the school work is disciplining yourself to get it done and turned in.
There is no stereotyping at Kaplan!! That is one thing I love about this school!!
I attend Kaplan University online so I do not know of or participate in any sports activities.
I don't know about for everyone, but I have seen many complaints against the new 'mandatory' policy for webinars, especially in classes where there is only 1 seminar you can attend - or an alternate assignment.
What is the "Greek" scene?
Technically, my back yard....
With being an online school you can get your work done on your own time where ever you find it best for you to study! To me that is a major plus!!
