Maryville College is a small 4-year liberal arts college with a rich history and beautiful campus. The professors are accessible, friendly, and experts at communicating the importance of their field in relation to our duties as engaged global citizens and lifetime learners. Not too secluded, we're mere miles from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and our campus culture encourages environmental stewardship and appreciation for our highland roots.
Maryville College provides excellent one-on-one opportunities for their students and the safety of the college is fantastic! Most teachers are more than willing to work with you if you are willing to take the time to communicate regularly with them. They also have great programs if you are considering travel or extracurricular activities. However, be prepared to study hard, especially in upper-level courses. This is definitely not a party college!
It is a very safe and quite school. The food available at dinning is just average, nothing truly special about it. Campus dorms need to be upgraded to a more update type of dorms. Campus is very empty on weeks , very few people stay on campus on the weekends. A good academic school, but very to little social life available on campus.
Violence against women is very prevalent. The administration handled my rape case so poorly that I left mid-year as a junior. There were three rape cases going on just in that semester. The same semester, a student shot his girlfriend to death and my roommate was punched by her boyfriend's roommate. The college does very little to keep its women safe, and a whole lot to cover its reputation.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Maryville College is 57%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
The advice I would give to myself would be to stay calm. Nothing is worth getting worked up over, whether it be a test or a big game. It is importatnt to keep your composure because when you do that your mind will stay clear and you can accomplish more. Also to learn how to study correctly. This is also important because even though you may not need to study in high school, you will need to in college and it is important to learn that skill. Stay organized. If you stay organized and keep things in order, you will be able to accomplish assignments and such on time. Also, if you stay organized and something comes up to where you will have to miss class, you will be prepared. Have fun. Don't let the stress of exams and grades weigh you down. It is important to remeber why your in college but it is also important to let lose sometimes and enjoy your college life. That being said stay responsible while you're having fun. Keep these words with you and you will be successful!
Facilities are the worst thing because most of them are very old and haven't been renovated. However, a new gym floor has been made and most dorms are being well kept. There is also a 13 million dollar arts center in construction, but we're only going to be able to use it for a year.
At Mayville College, my classmates are not only intelligent and hard working, but they are also very ougoing and willing to help their struggling peers.
Maryville College is not suited for a narrow minded individual who is not willing to be challenged to explore his or her beliefs. The campus is more intimate than most, therefore it is not the best setting looking to fly under the radar in the jungle of a big university.
Very tidious, but pushes you to do your very best.
The lack of a well run career center.
The small, personal community of caring indivudals
It would have been nice to know just how hard the Freshman work-load is before coming to Maryville. By having a difficult work-load professors can see how serious the freshman are about learning and getting a degree from Maryville. I don't think anybody is ever fully ready.
Maryville College, beig a Liberal Arts college, can suit just about anyone, yet I believe that a person who chooses to attend this college should be hard working and dedicated to being a student. Maryville College is known for its academics, and it is vitally important that a specific person fully committ himself or herself to the challenges which may arrise.
One of the biggest perks of Maryville College that I brag about is its proximity to the wilderness. Maryville College is less than an hour from the Great Smokey Mountains and two hours from Big South Fork. Maryville College is also home to Mountain Challenge LLC, a program which offers low ropes course exercises and team building activities in outdoor environment. This program is a great asset to the college by offering orientation programs for freshman and the local community.
Maryville College is best known for its prestigious academic standards and its strong sense of community. Professors expect you to put all of your effort into your classes and want you to get the most out of each class. The staff and faculty challenge students in a way that is encouraging and motivating. Students reach their potential in ways they did not realize they could. Furthermore, the small, close-knit campus environment produces a strong community of friendship and comfort.
The best thing is that the classes are small. The professors actually know who you are and that creates a huge advantage.
Hard! Do not try to slack off, it will bite you in the butt. Stay on top of the readings and assignment as best you can.
