Well rounded education seated deeply in tradition that makes it easy to feel at home. Loved the small class sizes and personal attention from professors.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is my second home. The overall atmosphere of this campus is phenomenal. My professors are all very knowledgeable in their field and are also always willing to stay after class and provide extra help. With my major I have a lot of stress on my shoulders to perform in and outside of the classroom, and at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College I am able to learn everything I need to succeed! Outside of academics there are many opportunities to get involved on our small campus, we have extracurriculars and are getting a rowing club team! Campus jobs are always available and can help spruce up a resume. I love Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and wouldn't choose another school for the world.
The professors are great, but there are hardly any students. It gets very lonely if you don't live on campus. The teachers are almost always available and they are very friendly. They will even stop to talk to students while class is not in session. This makes it very easy to make your schedule or make any neccisary changes quickly. I do not live on campus so I do not have very much experience with the food. What food I have had was awesome compared to what my high school gave us.
SMWC is one of the few colleges that really believes in their values, intertwining them into every course you will take while in attendance. There is a heavy focus on spirituality; not uncommon of a Catholic post-secondary. However because of the values of the college, diversity is not only tolerated but encouraged and celebrated. They have a lot of things that are simple yet meaningful to encourage pride and connectedness throughout the educational journies their students undertake.

I would tell myself to make more of an effort towards my studies. And to be more organized and disciplined with my time. College life and studies goes so much quicker then high school. It is so easy to get wrapped up with new friends and a new life away from home that if you are not ready you can really fall behind with your studies. Sometimes in college you just feel overwhelmed with everything. I also would tell myself to get more involved in activites and clubs. It will help when in college to be more involved, which would help to get the full college experience. College is the beginning of your future. You need to take it very seriously. And it is so important to chose the right college for you. You need to consider all that the college has to offer you towards your career. It makes all the difference in the world towards your future.
The WED program allows me as a mother to work at my own pace as well as provides me with a good education.
Open, friendly, and intellictually challenging.
SMWC is a small community where everyone tries to help eachother out. Everybody tends to get along.
Before I came to St. Mary-of-the-Woods, I wish I had known that it wasn't the "conservative Catholic school" that it is bulleted as.
I would consider the worst thing about my school to be the surrounding location. Although Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is located on a beautiful and historic campus, the town around the school gives off a negative first impression. As you drive to the entrance of the college, one passes through a runned down and low income area that may discourage prospective students from wanting to attend the school. One's first impression of the drive to the college may be very unappealing, but once one is on campus, it is soon easy to forget about the surrounding area.
With just one semester down I truly can not find anything wrong with Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. It seems to be a good fit for me. The most frustrating thing I would have to say is that one of my favorite teaches will be leaving after this year. She is my Journalism instructor and I would of loved to get to know her better. I feel she has a lot to offer and that I could of gain from her knowledge.
SMWC is best known for the fact that it is an all womens college.
A person that is unsure of their career goal because of the cost of the education.
I do not have any contact with any classmates due to the fact that I am in a distance program where all of my studies are done through online or through the mail. I learn better this way and can go at my own pace as long as I meet the goals I set for myself.
The best thing about Saint Mary-of-the-Woods is the size of the college. It is a small college. The classes are small and to me I really like that one on one with the instructors. And the teachers make themselves available.
I think anyone could attend this school. Everyone from the odd quiet girl to the most outgoing girl in highschool. I have found people here to be accepting. There is a wide range of personality types and interests too, so everyone can find people that have similar interests. I do think the person who came here would want to have a more quite college experience though, because this college is small. However, the person would have to be a girl, because Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is an all female college. Sorry guys.
