This composition competition is open to U.S. citizens who are 20 to 30 years of age as of the application deadline. Entrants must submit an original compositions in one or more of the following categories: piano solo, voice, chamber music (instrumental only).

NFMC Vivian Menees Nelson Award for the Disabled and Visually Impaired
This music competition is open to U.S. citizens who are 25 to 34 years of age and are disabled or visually impaired. Applicants must submit a vocal or instrumental recording of solo classical pieces.
NFMC Virginia Allison Collaborative Award
This award is open to U.S. students who are 19 to 25 years of age as of the application deadline. Students must submit a CD recording of a collaborative vocal or instrumental performance to enter.
Jazz Education Network (JEN) Scholarship Program
This scholarship is open to U.S. students who are 14 years of age or older that display an exceptional talent and potential in jazz performance and/or education or industry. Applicants must demonstrate potential for growth, artistic accomplishments, and leadership skills; university students must also demonstrate financial need.
NFMC Elizabeth Paris French Horn Award
This award is open to U.S. students who are 19 to 25 years of age. Students must submit a CD of themselves playing the required French horn repertoire.
NFMC Myrtle Mehan/Hazel Morgan Music Education Scholarship
This scholarship is open to U.S. sophomores who are majoring in music education at a college or university which has a music education department offering a degree in same.
NFMC Oscar Valentin Award
This scholarship is open to U.S. students who are 19 to 25 years of age. Students must submit a recorded performance of themselves playing the violin.
Music for the Blind Composition Award
This award is open to U.S. students who are 19 to 25 years of age and are legally blind (20/200 or less vision after correction). Students must submit an original music composition.
NFMC Ernest A. Bluhm Flute Award
This award is open to U.S. students who are 19 to 25 years of age. Students must record themselves performing the required flute repertoire to enter.
Jim and Margie Fegley Orchestral String Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is open to U.S. high school seniors and undergraduate students who are pursuing a Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education, Bachelor of Arts in Music, Bachelor of Science in Music degree, or a music certificate (specifically in orchestral strings). Students must have been actively involved in his/her high school or college music program or a program outside of school, and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
