Chestnut Hill College Top Questions

What is your overall opinion of this school?

To be completely honest, I could not be more impressed with the college I chose. CHC continuously goes beyond my expectations of what a college should entail, and I could not have made a better selection as to which college to attend. In regards to my favorite things about this college, I have narrowed it down to three major parts. For starters, I love the fact that our student-to-teacher ratio is 11:1. This means that in class, when something doesn't make sense and I raise my hand, I will be called upon within a matter of seconds. I hear my friends from other universities talk about the difficulties that they have had with classes in which they were one student out of a couple hundred, and it makes me appreciate this small ratio even more. The sizes of our campus, student, and faculty body are at the perfect level. The new social room is another thing I love, because I am a commuter, and it is a calm and quiet place to sit and relax in between classes, without having to walk over to the library. Also, they started serving coffee and snacks in the social room, which means I can even grab a bite to eat before my classes start. The new fitness center is another spot I love about our campus. I get a lift and run in every day, and the new fitness center has the equipment to accommodate everyone's workout style. From simple workouts to more complex lifting, you will be able to get a workout in the new fitness center. I truly am enjoying my college experience here at CHC.

The best thing about Chestnut Hill is the small class sizes and community feeling. Since the school is small you pretty much know everyone which makes you feel right at home. I also like Chestnut Hill because it gives me the opportunity to get the division two student-athlete experience. As an athlete I really like that the whole school community gets involved and supports the different athletic teams around campus. Chestnut Hill also is constantly improving and growing. The school has added a brand new gym and social room since I have arrived on campus.

Personally, I love my school. The best thing about my school is that it is small and has an intimate family feel. When you walk down the hallway you'll recognize a majority of the people that pass you by. When you walk to the cafeteria you are guaranteed that you'll find a place to sit with people you know and love when you get there. The staff and professors all know and remember your names, There's a lot of opportunities to get involved which I took advantage of and I love it. I wish I could change the school spirit around here and amplify it. But a small school isn't for everyone which is why people may not like it here. We are on the outskirts of Philadelphia so we have a small town feel but then we also have access to transportation to get to the big city so it's like the best of both worlds.

The best thing about CHC is its homey atmosphere. Chestnut Hill College has literally become my home away from home. I feel like I fit right in here. I know where I belong, have a huge group of friends, and am more comfortable here than I ever was in my high school (and I was not an insecure kid!). Many people have never heard of CHC when I tell them about it, but when I do talk about it, all I can do is gush. I bleed school spirit and pride, and I could not imagine my life without Chestnut Hill. While on campus I spend my time everywhere! I have friends that live in each of the dorm buildings, I like to hang out on the Summer House Lawn on nice days, I spend some time in the library studying, I chill in student activities, spend extra time at meals in the dining hall, attend different events across the campus, and work in the admissions office. Besides my room, where I do most of my studying and RA responsibilities, there is not one place that I spend more time than anywhere else. Chestnut Hill has become my life, and I could not be happier with my college decision. This really is my Home Sweet Hill.

the professors really care about you and want you to succeed. the things the school offers like campus ministry, the writting and math center, and free tutoring center are all awesome things that they offer. Also student activities makes it easy to get involved and participate in all the activities on campus. The proximity to the city is great and things never get boring. The people, from the lunch room staff to my roomate, is my favorite thing about this school though. Everyone is always happy and friendly. It is a great atmosphere!

I think most people I tell about Chestnut Hill College have, frankly, never heard of it. I am from the Philadelphia area and used to drive past CHC all the time, but never knew it was a college! When I finally came for a visit, I said, "Wait! I know exactly where we are!" And so my love for the beautiful campus, welcoming faculty, and genuinely homey vibes at CHC began. I always say that CHC is a hidden gem. It is is a place to discover who you are as a person, and who you want to become as a professional with a degree from a wonderful place. One of the great things about CHC is its location - within Philadelphia city limits without feeling like a city school. If you Google "Chestnut Hill College" you will see that the campus is so picturesque - a great environment in which to learn. The small community affords the opportunity to connect with professors on a one-on-one, regular basis. This is a great resource when looking for internships and even jobs after college to have connections to someone in the field - a professor who probably knows your first, middle, and last name, your strengths and weaknesses, your work ethic, your personality, and your character.

I have really found my place here at Chestnut Hill College. If you can think of it, you can achieve it here! So many opportunities are available there is no way you can leave this school without having a great experience. The is a unique event we host on campus. If anyone has read Harry Potter, then you know about Quidditch. We have that here!!! We have 14 Division II teams, so Quidditch is one of our intramural options for students who want to be involved, but are not on a sports team. And even if you don't want to play, the whole community and campus comes out to watch the games we hold on one weekend in the fall.
